5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have Book For The Macross II and Robotech RPG, March 7, 2006
This review is from: Macross II : Spacecraft and Deck Plans Volume 3 (Paperback)
Once again, Dreampod 9's was brought in to help design the Deck Plans 3 sourcebook for Macross II and it shows. In comparsion to the deck plans featured in the Robotech RPG Books, the Macross II deck plans are like night and day. With a much better layout and more detailed illustrations/cutaways, the Macross II deck plans put the Robotech ones to shame. This book features the deck plans of the SDF-01 (including the layout of the internal city) and ARMD space platforms, both being a particular interest to Robotech RPG fans as this is the only place where these deck plans were ever published. In addition, layouts are given for U.N. Spacy's Earth and Moon bases, as well as Earth's culture park. Finally, a 2 part adventure involving a Maruk Emulator (with NPC stats) is included that originally began in Deck Plans 2. Quite, honestly, I can't find anything wrong with this book. The SDF-01's information is very thorough, (as is the ARMD's) and the background information given is enough for people to get a basic understanding of the battlefortress's history without having to watch/rewatch Robotech/SDF-Macross. Plus, the adventure scenerio is really quite good, and can easily span into a long campaign session. (Also, enough information is given where you don't necessarily need Deck Plans 2 to start the scenerio.) The only reason why you wouldn't want this book would be if you're not a fan of the RPG/series or you find no use for the content listed. If neither listed above fit you're criteria, then by all means get this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the most valuable of the deckplan books., August 12, 2009

This review is from: Macross II : Spacecraft and Deck Plans Volume 3 (Paperback)
The Macross II RPG was a short lived RPG, with books released from 1993 to 1994. Only 5 books were published, the main book, a "sourcebook one" and three volumes of deck plans.

The deck plan books especially stand out, because of their quality and wealth of information. They were designed by the "Dreampod9" team, which is why the format varies greatly from that of other Palladium books products. The deck plans detail everything, from engine rooms to mecha hangars, to crew quarters, lounges, and even washrooms.

This book contains deckplans to the SDF-1 Macross, as presented in Macross II and Macross DYRL. The entire city inside the ship is detailed: highways, shopping malls, parks, cafes, schools (did you know the Macross houses 2 elementary schools?). Even the bridge and the command tower (which can detach in an emergency) is detailed. The DYRL style ARMD platforms are mapped. The maps of the SDF-1 is the reason this book is more valued than the other deck plan books.

This book focuses on bases and cities, rather than starships.

Deck plans and stats are included for the:
SDF-1 Macross,
ARMD platform,
culture park (with maps of the Louvre),
U.N. Spacy HQ, &
Moonbase
