Take your music on the go with the lightweight Macvision MA823T-2BL digital audio player with 512 MB of skipless flash memory. In addition to playing both MP3 and WMA audio files, it also sports an FM radio and digital voice recorder. Additionally, it can be used as a USB mass storage unit, allowing you to safely store your important presentations and documents and transfer them to another PC.
The 512 MB MA823T will hold approximately 8 hours of CD-quality MP3 tracks (encoded at 128 kps) or 16 hours of WMA tracks (at 64 kbps). In addition to MP3 and WMA, it's also compatible with ASF and WAV formats. The FM radio has a total of 40 presets. The integrated microphone and voice recorder feature enables you to record short notes to yourself as well as important meetings and lectures. Files are recorded as WAV or ACT.
Playback functions include repeat one/all, play directory, repeat folder, and play random. The seven- tone equalizer features natural, rock, pop, classical, soft, jazz, and heavy bass settings. The easy- to-read LCD has a full-cartoon graphical menu and displays such text as song title and album.
It's powered by a single AAA battery, which provides up to 10 hours of life. Sleep and power-save modes help to extend the battery use. It connects to PCs via a USB 2.0 connection, and it's compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. This player is firmware upgradable.

I travel a lot by bus and train. Doing this I need something to listen to while I commute. I looked into an ipod and I want to wait till the price comes down, which they will. In the mean time, I needed a player of some sort so I bought this one here. this is so easy to use my nine year old can do it. It plays MP3's and WMA only, which is great because I use Windows Media Player at home. I saw the review on the MA833A and I'm sure those people just are clueless to computers and peripherals. Anyway, I checked there resource library for support and they had a how to transfer files to your MP3 player wich was great. I must admit that the Instruction Manual was not so helpful, but I'm rating the product. People just need to experiment, just as they did when they first used a computer. Very Cool!!

Read the technical information on this player carefully before buying. We liked this product until we tried to buy and download music online, and found that it does not support music downloads with DRM (digital rights management) software, which is used by every trustworthy online music source we checked. Don't buy this player if you plan to buy and download music from the Internet.

It doesn't surprise me that this mp3 player is now being offered at a significant discount. I purchased one a month or so ago and was very disappointed with the player. File transfers were often unsuccessful, despite following the instructions to the letter, and the player had an incredibly annoying tendency to restart whenever I opened the file menu. I contacted MacVision customer service by e-mail--to this date, they haven't responded.Now it's possible that I received a dud, and that other players work fine--but this doesn't explain the company's failure to respond to my inquiry. For what it's worth, I will never purchase a MacVision product again.
