Some things aren't worth the money regardless of how cheap they may be.,

Granted I bought the cheapest mp3 player I could find: the Macvision MA833A-2R 256 MB MP3 Player, it wasn't worth even that.
There is not a 'hold' button. The buttons are extremely sensitive and were constantly getting bumped. The screen was nearly impossible to read. And the kicker, it was going through batteries in under 2 hours. I ended up returning this player and purchasing a SANDISK MP3 Player SDMX1512A10. After the rebate that was being offered at the time, it was only $15 more than the Macvision. I am not only much happier with the Sandisk player, I literally have no complaints.

There are so many aspects I appreciated about this player. First, it was realatively inexpensive for the amount of space available (256 MB). Next, I really liked the built in voice recorder. I doubt I'll ever use it, but it was still pretty cool just the same. The root menu was very easy to follow and the system configurations allow you to customize things like key lock time, display lighting and crossfade time. Also cool, the player works as a regular flash drive too. It works fast and it's so easy to load and delete my favorite playlists.
The only problem I had with it was the fact that you couldn't really put music into sub-folders and listen to a prefered folder. Sure, it had looping options starting and stopping a group that might span 5 or 6 songs, but that just seemed complicated. Don't let that get you down though, there is still a quick option to help you select a track to start from. That way you don't try skipping through 60 songs to get to that new song from Foo Fighters that you love so much, only to realize it was really on track 22, not 92. Anyway, you get the idea. Now Media Player will recognize sub-folders if you choose a cache option in Media Player, but the player itself won't recognize the music, only the folders themselves. Folders are useful for any recorded messages though, so they still have a purpose. Long story short, I love my cool new MP3 player. It even came with a cool lanyard that had the headphones going right through it! I know... awesome! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. -Doug W.-

As other reviewers have stated: sometimes it's just too cheap to be worth it at all. This is an unbelievably poorly designed product -- sure, it looks great, it plays MP3s, it connects to your computer, fine. But the controls are so annoying (basics, like turning it on and getting it to play your songs is a study in frustration). The little toggle control on the side of it simply too flimsy to be at the center of all operations -- half the time you end up jiggling it by mistake and find yourself recording a .wav when you thought you were about to play a song. Spend a little more, get something that doesn't lack the most rudimentary user friendlyness.

We love the player - it holds just the right number of songs and you don't have a library to go through to find the one you're after. Owned and used by our 8 year old and beats packing around the CD player. It has even held up to his lifestyle. Thanks

I just got my Macvision Mp3 player yesterday it took me about two seconds to load it with my fist music you don't even need to load the software. I read all the other reviews where people said that they could not get it to work but I had no problems what so ever. This player is great I have no complaints for the price. I would recommend it for any one who wants a cheap player for working out or road trips. It not only sounds great but looks good as well.

I bought the MP3 player for my son. He enjoys it, and had little trouble figuring out how to use it. I must say, I was impressed with the quality of sound it produces. I recommend this player. I can't say how long it will hold up with a teenager? This is a good entry level player.

Really great MP3 player!!!,
This review is from: Macvision MA833A-2R 256 MB MP3 Player Red (Electronics)
I've been waiting for this MP3 Player in the mail for about four days now, & I finally woke up today with the package at my door. I imeadiantly opened it and was surprised at it's appearence! It looks beter than the pictures portrayed and it has this really soft texture! I've got 66 songs on it presently, and it's very nice!! The sound is very, very clear...even clearer than my CD player was! I'm not so fond of the ear buds they sent with it though. They're very short and chunky, I guess that's they best word. The instruction manuel was very clear for me, I'm not sure why it wasn't for every one else but I've seen confusing and this was great compared to them. Idk, I read alot & i'm not even driving yet. Overall, I recomend this MP3 player. I very mush enjoy it.

My MACVISION MP3 came in just yesterday, have been messing with it almost non-stop. I've seen quite a few poor reviews, but I believe it's simply because they don't quite understand how to truely use it. It only took me 5 minutes to figure out how to use it exactly, the toggle switch on the top of the mp3 player is a bit tricky to figure out at first, it just takes a bit of exploring and experimenting, the recording features work great, only have a few complaints which are listed below, but for ~$40.00 its worth it.
-No Fast Forward/Rewind function -No Playlist creation -Can't expand on the memory +Cheap price, high quality, sounds better than most +Good EQ Presets +Easy one hand use

Bought for 13 & 9-year-old kids. It's not an iPod BUT. . .easy to download using our mac. Has folders to separate music/podcasts/voice recordings/etc. Has display to figure out what you're trying to play. Nice and small. Sounds great. No complaints except wish it had a HOLD button to keep from accidently turning on. Best to have ability to RECHARGE your AAA batteries 'cause it does seem to go through them fairly quickly on long road trips! Bottom line...worth the price.
