Some critics have harped that listening to the Buchmans bicker has grown old by now. But the beauty of the show has always been in the way the two argue. Quick-tongued and witty, they wield their words like razor-sharp knives, reminding viewers of the song "You Always Hurt the One You Love." But it's their quiet truisms than can break your heart. When Jamie tells her husband, "It's not working," viewers are left holding their breath and urging the couple on to make it work. And in the three-part season finale, Paul and Jamie have some major issues to work out. Other story arcs include Paul's sister Debbie coming out as a lesbian. Their mother is shocked but takes some solace in the fact that Debbie's lover is a doctor. Ira begins gambling again and handles it better than Paul. And Jamie's neurotic and self-centered sister finally gets engaged. Guest stars include Yoko Ono, Arte Johnson, and Hank Azaria, who appears as a semi-regular as the Buchmans' dog walker. All 24 episodes are included on the four-disc set. --Jae-Ha Kim

I am waiting, as well...,

... with infinite patience. At this point, I don't ask for any extras, no fancy booklets, nothing! Just press the discs and sell them with the cheapest packaging you can imagine... I (and apparently several others) will buy it right away. The series had a loyal following, so much so that it kept the show going for seven seasons. Well, we are still here! If not for anything else, a quick IMDB glance points to the striking fact that this show earned 63 awards nominations and 36 wins, including multiple American Comedy Awards, Directors Guild and Screen Actors Guild awards, several Emmy's, Golden Globes, and the list goes on. So, for the sake of ART, itself, please release it. In case inescapable reasons prevent that, I would hope Sony could simply offer an explanation to the fans. Take it as a matter of politeness towards your customers (yes, we are the folks at home watching your shows and helping you make money). It is fine, we can take a solid justification, we are not exactly Cavemen (pun intended). That way, at least, we will not feel like fools waiting for nothingness. And for the record, season four ranks very high in my list of favorites, not just for its formidable ending, but also for the intelligent and subtle way the seeds for that ending were planted throughout the entire season, offering much more context and meaning to the final episodes (evidently, this is in no way captured by the collection dvd set). What else can I say? I encourage more people to use this public space and signal their interest in this excellent show. Thank you for reading.

Here we wait for season 4 of one of TV's great sitcoms, while "That 70's Show" is already up to season 7! Sad.

Waiting, waiting, waiting...,

Every rubbish ever seen on TV seems to be (re-)published on DVD these days, but one of the greatest productions ever, decorated with price after price, awaited by a whole fan community, is delayed for years and years and years... what's going on here? I guess we'll never know. But me and my wife keep waiting (and buying every MAY-season that will be published).
