5.0 out of 5 stars Still fresh thrash/speed/crunch after all these years
This is a mixed compilation of their first and third albums (at least that I saw here in the U.S.) While Mad Butcher (their first album ... and the first four songs) is OK, Eternal Devastation (their third) is easily one of the best thrash CD's of all time. 1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid
These guys never made a real impact and this CD justifies it. The music is laughable and the lyrics ridiculous. If you are into thrash look for Sepultura, The Haunted or the old Metallica albums.

This is a mixed compilation of their first and third albums (at least that I saw here in the U.S.) While Mad Butcher (their first album ... and the first four songs) is OK, Eternal Devastation (their third) is easily one of the best thrash CD's of all time. Destruction's sound and rhythm patterns on Eternal Devastation (and Infernal Overkill, their previous release) are totally unique and innovative. No one else sounds like them. They are an extremely tight band and Mike is one of thrash's ultimate rhythm guitarists. The rhythms he came up with are far more complex than the typical thrash rhythm. Sort of a rhythm/lead mix with an evil edge. A mixture of speed metal, thrash, and heavy crunch. At the time this CD came out he was easily the most innovative and talented metal guitarist I'd heard. He's not bad on leads either. His output on this CD are still in the elite status as far as I'm concerned. I originally bought Eternal Devastation on vinyl the week it came out. And it's still as fresh as day one. It's one of the few albums that I bought two CD's just in case it goes out of print and the first CD ever wears out.

Unfortunately their later releases are good, but sound like everyone else. But if you're into late 80's thrash do not let this masterpiece pass you by.

5.0 out of 5 stars I dig these guys, May 8, 2003

These dudes really shred . . vocals inexplicably dart out into some weird high screeches that I could do without - but the guitar work and drums are really nice . . packed solid with some classic head bangin' riffing here as well as some interesting time changes too. The guys are really underrated and much more tolerable than the rap metal that's in vogue now.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best death metal bands, July 23, 2000

I remember when I was 15 and I went down to my local record shop to get some new tunes, and I was browsing the records and came across "Mad Butcher" the band members caught my eye quickly and the names of the songs were so intense (Well for that year in time) I had to have it! I took it home and it just kicked, shredded, ripped, and trashed it was heavy and dark! The drums and guitars were powerful the music all around was crazy this was the record to have! Now I recently bought it again but in CD and it still was as crunchy as it was back then

The best mini lp ever. They were so very ahead from the others..Their guitar playing is amazing..so very progressive..that's why they have paid the price of being anti-commercial..But we don't care...Good things are for the few...
