Product Description

Trolls and idiots are taking over the Internet! Haters gonna hate, right? Wrong! U Mad: The Internet's Guide to Idiots is entertaining and thought-provoking in describing how we can make the Web less flammable.

Is our online social life doomed to be laughed at by 13-year-olds? How can a web show host react to criticism? What do Trolls have in common with the Tusken Raiders from Star Wars? Why is it unlikely to see the '2girls1cup' video in the 'Selected especially for you' section of any website?

The Internet distorts our messages and our personas, it's important to know this and to counteract. In this 8000-word-long book you'll read about why there are so many assholes online, how they think and act, and why you should still see a human being in the most venomous hater.

This is a book for net users, bloggers, web video producers, journalists and everyone whose life has been changed due to online interaction with other people. It is also meant for trolls, haters and bullies - remember, trolls are people too.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent look into human interaction with the Internet, January 14, 2012

This young man shows insightful thought into how we all interact on the Web. He writes fairly consistently with how young folks speak to each other, yet his insights are very mature. I see not only myself in his descriptions of thought patterns and behaviors on the web, but he also touches on my gravest fears for my grandchildren's postings. He speaks to the fact that even though each person is somewhat aware that every person with Internet access is capable of reading what we post, we tend to forget that the world is watching and reading what we put 'out there'-- even this review is going out to the world right now. My grandchildren, in their youth, do not understand that what they write on their social sites is public information. Their worlds are their friends, and they think their friends are the only ones reading their posts. I will be passing this short book on to them today. I look forward to any upcoming writing from this author.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very short but well-thought and quite deep study of the human behaviour on the internet, January 13, 2012

Very short but well-thought and quite deep study of the human behaviour on the internet. 'U Mad?' is also a great source, although not necessarily a technical source, for all people either working or interested in Crowd psychology. Read it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Everyone Should Read This, January 23, 2012
This review is from: U Mad? The Internet's Guide to Idiots (Kindle Edition)
It is unfortunately easy to be cruel online - sometimes without realizing it. This is a book about this problem and offers a basic - but true - solution: stay calm in the event of trolls. The main message is one of respect and tolerance toward others, which is sorely needed in today's world.
