Mad to Live,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Mad to Live (Flume Press Chapbook Series, No. 23) (Paperback)
A treasure of short/shorts... flash fiction that is concise, poignant, tender; stories that roam through chapters entitled what is, what for, what not, what if. Randall Brown's fiction does what I want: surprises me, and helps me feel compassion for all the characters who, in a page or two, I feel as though I know so well. His are not the well worn tales of recipe fiction. They are each unique, most often a little odd, yet capture aspects of humanity that feel true and are so often missed in writing. Each of these stories hits it, and hits me where I want to be hit. If you were to buy only two books of flash fiction I'd pick this one and Stefanie Freele's Feeding Strays.
