To Thine Own Self, Be True..., October 6, 2005
This review is from: Mad Love: Four tasty tales of lust, sex...and wedded bliss (Paperback)
I highly recommend this book! As an avid reader all my life, and a member of a bookclub for the past four years, I've read lots of fiction on love, relationships, etc. Most of them are just light reading, where you don't learn (or even expect to learn) anything about yourself. This book is different. Yes, there were plenty of juicy parts to this book (sex (!), lust, love, etc). However, it also went one step further, and I got something out of it that I didn't expect - a lesson!!
On our paths to becoming closer to our authentic selves, there is always risk! Each of these characters tried to fight against their true feelings in order to fit in, be liked, avoid pain - basically, ignore who they really were, or what they believed in. Only when they made the decision to love freely did they become truly happy, because they made the CHOICE to honor their feelings. And the love stories are beautiful (read the prologue to "Promise Me", and just melt!)
Who knew I'd get all this from a fun, laugh-out-loud, "Oh no, she DIDN'T" book! GET IT!

Madly Entertaining, November 1, 2005
This review is from: Mad Love: Four tasty tales of lust, sex...and wedded bliss (Paperback)
Mad Love by Darrious D. Hilmon and his sister Javaki Hilmon, is a collection of four novellas. Each story deals with relationships and the lessons learned via adversities.
From the story of Danielle, a soon to be bride and Amadeus, the man that she is contemplating an affair with; to Chris, a man madly in love with his lover who is about to be married; each story is thought provoking and entertaining.
I strongly recommend this book for fans of short stories and novellas. If you like drama with lively characters and real situations, Mad Love is sure to tickle your reading fancy

Loving it!, September 23, 2005
This review is from: Mad Love: Four tasty tales of lust, sex...and wedded bliss (Paperback)
I began reading this book in bed, and I read until I couldnt hold my eyes open anymore. I woke up at roughly 3am and started reading again and finished at approximately 4:30. I had to finish each of the short stories because I felt as if I had a vested interest in these peoples' lives. The characters in Mad Love appeal to the reader in the form of our friends, foes, loved ones, and the ones we want to love...including ourselves. The reader may even find a bit of themselves between the sheets and covers of Mad Love.
Though Javaki is a novice in the world of written art, she is far more talented than her literary resume' may give her credit for.
Darrious once again gave me a reason to stay up into the wee hours with his ever so stylish, street savvy characters and their captivating personalities. There is always just enough foreshadow to keep you guessing, enough sex to get your pheremone sensors going, and enough drama to make you feel normal.
