Finally, "One of the Living" is available again. I liked it even better than "We Don't Need Another Hero". It's certainly worth the price of this CD.

It's incredible that we had to wait almost 20 years to buy this soundtrack on CD and it's also amazing that "One of the living" never appeared in any Tina Turner production. The 2 songs that Tina recorded for this soundtrack were big, big hits in 1985 causing a war in the charts and award ceremonies between them. "We don't need another hero" was written and produced by Terry Britten and Graham Lyle who also wrote Tina's #1 hit "What's love got to do with it". The single reached #2 on Billboard's Hot 100 and was nominated for a Grammy award in 1986. "One of the living" was produced by Mike Knight and Humberto Gatica. Knight was the producer of Tina's Grammy award winner, Top 5 hit "Better be good to me". The single won a Grammy award in 1986 for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance and peaked at #15 on Billboard's Hot 100. The three other songs were performed by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and were conduced and composed by Maurice Jarre.

2 GREAT TINA SONGS,
This review is from: Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (Score) (Audio CD)
I agree with everyone so far...that One Of The Living is probably the defining moment of the real Rock-n-Roll Tina !! I had the privilege of seeing her perform it in concert in 1987 and it was "Simply The Best" =) The video is awesome too(still gotta watch it regularly)...with the original Tina Band members and Tina at her rawest ! This album only has two original Tina songs on it, but these two are good enough to buy the album alone. Beyond Thunderdome hit # 2 on Billboard and One of the Living hit # 15 (should have been higher)

Return of the 'Living',

I agree with the reviews here that 'One of the Living' is one of Tina's best songs. It's probably my favorite from her 80s output, even more so than anything from 'Private Dancer'. It just has the perfect mix of rock, pop and a little techno, and Tina's vocals are top-notch. It has aged very well, yet none of Tina's compilations feature it so thankfully this soundtrack has brought it to CD. I did find the 12-inch version on vinyl and it's fantastic.

I can't give this 5 stars for 1 reason. Only 6 tracks after being shorted on the Road Warrior score too. I too think that ONE OF THE LIVING is a great song; one of my all time favorites. If you recall the video on MTV, Tina "played" the electric guitar. The song is nearly an anthem. It's also very sexy. Glad to see they brought this one back.

ONE OF THE LIVING SINGLE,

I purchased this album specifically for the song "One of the Living". After listening to the track I found that this song on the album differs from the one played in the movie. I was extremely disappointed. The song was flat and slower than the movie version and Tina dosn't hit the high notes as she does in the movie version song. Anyone looking to buy this album just for the track "One of the Living" (her greatest recording in my opinion), should not bother if you are looking for the movie version.

The only two Tina Turner songs I really like!,

I am not a big Tina Turner, or even a Movie Soundtrack fan. But HEY, that's just me! However, the two songs by Tina that I DO enjoy are found on this CD.
"We Don't Need Another Hero" and "One Of The Living" definitely put Tina smack into the middle of the "Rock & Roll" genre! She puts so much sultry sexiness into each of these tunes, that you just can't help but play them over and over again. The BONUS track on the CD? The instrumental version of "We Don't Need Another Hero." This is practically a "karaoke" version. I often play this track in the car, and sing the song to myself. However, I don't make a good Tina Turner ... she's MUCH sexier ... and sounds better! Here is a tip for the reviewer who thought that the versions on this CD were slower than the movie versions: Use your computer to "rip" the tunes from your CD. Then, take a music editing software program (Windows Media v10 ... for example) and adjust the speed/tempo of the tracks to fit your expectations. You can then save the edited tracks into any format you wish. There are many other FREE editing programs that can be found on the Internet. Easy, Peezy, Lemon Squeezy!

I almost cried when I finally got a Cd recording of my favorite Tina Turner song "One of the Living". This song is always ignored on Tina's compilations and is a must for every die hard Tina fan's collection! Now all I need is the "One of the Living" video............

Agree completely with two reviewers who stated that 'One of the Living' was one of the best songs of the 80's. I've waited years to find it.
