The holiday selections are fine and fit the 60's vibe of the show, even if some of them are not strictly tunes or versions released during the period. The mysterious inclusion of a 5:32 version of the opening theme music and the 'scotch and sofa' remix of the 'Zou Bisou Bisou' track (made famous by Jessica Pare during an episode of the show) unfortunately seems like either a hook to buy the CD or unneeded filler. Would have been okay with the versions of these songs as seen on the show, but the remixes just are subpar. This disc is a 'Target exclusive' available at their stores for $11.99 if you want to save some money.

Let me start by saying that, as a Mad Men fanatic, I have every CD with music from the show. But, I have to agree with Tim Tyni's review wherein I also do not understand the inclusion of the opening theme (which has appeared on a few other CDs) and Zou Bisou. What do they have to do with "Christmas"? (BTW, the "re-mixes" sounded OK to me.)

The only reason to buy this CD is the fact that they put Nellie McKay's short version of "Christmas Waltz" on it. It appears - with Doris Day's version - on Episode 10 of Season 5. I searched everywhere and could not buy a copy or download an Mp3 of this song. It could only be ripped from YouTube. Well, not anymore.

I would add that they could have easily put Carbonara's "Christmas Conga" on this CD. It is on the "On The Rocks" CD, which has the most recent Carbonara offerings from the shows. Also, I have many of the songs on this CD and, other than Christmas Waltz, I cannot remember hearing any of them on the shows - except T. Brewer's "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus", which appears (closes?) on Episode 2 of Season 4..

The only minor comment I would make is that this CD may not hit the $4.99 sales bins. Just take a look at the current asking prices for "Original Score-Vol. 1" and "Season 2". (of course, you can rip OS Vol 1 for $8.99). Sometimes, the manufacturer only produces a limited amount to compete with projected demand. But, only time will tell. So, if you're a Christmas CD fanatic (I have @ 125) and want to hear Nellie McKay's Christmas Waltz, then spend the $10 and get this CD!!

Now... where did I put that bottle of Canadian Club?

Merry Christmas!

The Mad Men Christmas album is made up from songs that have appeared on the tv series (although not all are the exact version from the episodes) as well as curiously the shows theme song and a remix of "Zou Bisou Bisou" by one of the show's stars Jessica Pare. Despite those crass selections, the Christmas songs included are impeccable. They include Darlene Love's seminal "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)", the Vince Guaraldi Trio's "Christmas Time Is Here" and "The Christmas Song" by the song's author Mel Torme.

My favorite show of all time & a great collection for Christmas. We played it at our Christmas party and everyone kept asking me about it.

I thought it was going to be all Christmas songs. Songs are from Mad Men episodes. Not all are Christmas songs.
