Great Workout Music,

I use this album in regular rotation of music I listen to while working out and it is the first rap/hip-hop mix that has ever motivated me to perform better. Although I had this strange urge to chop up the person on the treadmill next to me with a chainsaw...Huh!?!

I don't like hip hop, but I liked the music as I was playing the video game. The music played a great part in me liking the game. While not all the songs are great, there are twenty songs and most of them seem to be a mix between hip hop and techno. It was the techno aspect that drew me into buying the cd. Since the songs are really short (2-3 minutes), you won't get bored of the music. Admitedly, the songs seemed better when I was playing the game, and they don't seem the same while I am driving my car. Regardless, I don't regret my purchase, the songs still can stand on their own without having the violence of MadWorld on the television screen. Be warned, there is some cussing in the soundtrack.

A refreshing take on a game soundtrack,

This soundtrack, for the Nintendo Wii game "Madworld," was either going to make or break the game for me when I played it. I'm happy to say that I probably enjoyed the music more than the game itself! It successfully pulls off a combination of catchy instrumentals by Naoto Tanaka, along with lyrics and other beats by western rap/hip hop artists. Ox's 'Ride!!' and 'Soul' are standouts as well as 'Survival' and 'deathwatch' by S.O.U.L. Purpose and Doujah Raze respectfully. I particularly like the lyrics written by the artist directly referring to the game's plot, characters and settings which is almost unheard of in games today. Sick YG talks about how funny it is that the main character, Jack, gets paid to kill in the song 'Ain't That Funny,' while Bandy Leggz pokes fun at the fact that there are hardly any female bosses in the game with 'You Don't Know Me.'
There's plenty of great rhymes and fast beats on the album, with most songs coming in under 3 minutes so they don't become repetitive. The only small gripe might be the lack of more artist, but the ones that contribute multiple tracks change up their style enough to diversify the album. Overall this is one of the best game soundtracks in recent memory and that's coming from someone who doesn't even really like rap or hip-hop. I wish more companies would take some risks and try to collaborate more albums like this. Here's hoping this will start more talks between the game and music industry (Guitar hero/rock band notwithstanding.)

I was fairly frustrated when I purchased Mad World (the game, for Wii) to see that the soundtrack was only available in the UK with promotional orders. Now that it's available for download, I was excited. It's an excellent soundtrack by little-known artists, and so I was glad to support them. The quality when downloaded using Banshee is 96kpbs - it sounds okay, but it's not what I expected - was expecting at least 256.

Pick it up if you liked the game. It's cheap and it's a lot better than most other video game soundtracks. Body That and Crimson Rain alone are worth the price of admission
