More About the Author

Dave Gibbons passionately roams in three different global playgrounds: The first park is THE AWAKEN GROUP (THEAWAKENGROUP.COM), a consulting firm specializing in creativity, culture and innovation; the second park is a movement of churches not bound by geography that he calls "home" (NEWSONG.NET), throughout Southeast Asia, China, India, Korea, Mexico City, London, and North America. And lastly there is a crazy bunch of people in an organization called XEALOT that focuses on transforming marginalized communities through strategic leadership development and ideation ventures. Dave has written a book on culture and leadership based on an eastern parable called The Monkey and the Fish.

When it comes to making fun of everything from the serious to the ridiculous, no one does it better than the writers and editors of "Mad Magazine." In this case their target is the comic book superheroes, an area where it is necessary to go overboard in your suspension of disbelief.
The primary focus here is the recent series (as of 2010) of superhero movies, Batman, Iron Man, Superman, the X-Men, Hulk and Spiderman are all turned into objects of scorn and laughter. The dialog is once again superb and sarcastic, pointing out the flaws and flimflam of a person fighting crime while wearing an absurd costume.
The lampooning is so well done that it will no doubt offend the hard-core followers of the comic book genre. Yet, that is a compliment, for satire is no good if it does not go far enough to annoy the true believers.

Its mad, what did you expect, sophisticated humor? Just cause it's not sophisticated doesn't mean it's not funny. Go buy it, read it, and enjoy it. Happy reading true believers. Nuff said.
