Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Based on the highly anticipated, star-studded animated feature film from DreamWorks Animation, Madagascar is the only console game that lets players enter the world of four hilarious Central Park Zoo animals--a personality-packed crew made up of a lion, zebra, giraffe, and hippo--and their crafty penguin sidekicks. Players must master each animal’s natural skills while adventuring through the exciting city of New York and the dangerous island of Madagascar, interacting with other animals and tackling obstacles and enemies in scenarios from the movie and beyond.

Features:

  • Get in touch with your animal instincts: Fighting for survival has never been this much fun. Play as the main characters from the movie--Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo, and Melman the Giraffe--as you take on obstacles, interact with characters, and face off against enemies. In bonus chapters, play as different characters--from lovable lemurs to crafty penguins.
  • Rock the city and rule the jungle: Test your animal abilities in mini-games and 11 action-packed, movie-based chapters including "Manhattan Street Chase," where you search for Marty on the mean streets of New York; "Penguin Mutiny," where the penguins overtake a giant cargo vessel; and "Jungle Banquet," where you get ready for the feast of a lifetime.
  • Collect high scores in bonus mini-games: Take on three bonus chapters including "Shuffleboard," where you play as an array of characters in a wide variety of shuffleboard settings; "Tiki Golf," where you golf with the natives on tropical-themed courses; and "Lemur Rave," where you can test out your rhythm skills to cool jungle beats.
  • Get your groove on as you go: Develop new skills as you take the role of each zoo animal during the game. Help Alex maximize the power of his claws, roar, and pounce; get Marty to pump up his long jump, back kick, and stealth crawl skills; utilize Gloria’s butt smash and spiced up charge; and perfect Melman's helicopter spin and ammo-throwing neck fling. (The ammo we’re talkin' 'bout here includes coconuts and lemurs, thank you very much.)
  • The fun is never done: with the GBA and NDS games you'll test your animal abilities across diverse environments in mini-games, nine training levels, and 12 action-packed, movie-based levels. Enjoy Nintendo DS extras--use your Nintendo DS touch screen to switch characters in the middle of levels or to play two platform exclusive, 3D mini-games. You can also take on a friend in a wireless co-op mini-game.

4.0 out of 5 stars Madagascar, December 15, 2005
A Kid's Review
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Madagascar (Video Game)
Madagascar is all the humor and exitment of the movie in one small DS package. Marty the zebra is looking forward to celebrating his 10th birthday, but is beginning to tire of the same old dayly grind. Marty dreams of the freedom and exitment of living in the wild, and has realised that living in the zoo is no picnic. With a little help from some karate masters, aka the penguins Marty escapes from the zoo. His best friends alex the lion, Melmen the girrafe, and Gloria the hippo set off to find him in what turns out to be a bigger adventure than any of them had expected. Get ready to journey across the the ocean, around the zoo, through the streets of New York to the island of Madagascar. Along the way you will meet several new and thrilling characters, learn new talents, and unlock bonus games by finding coins in all the levels. You will help Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman defeat the dreaded foosa, the most dangerous creatures in Madagascar and save the day. Madagascar is perfect for any age group, esspecially those who enjoy the movie. It is a little too easy at the beginning, but soon becomes more challanging and fun. I realise that alot of kids do not enjoy this game because it is non violent, but that is what makes it fun. The only thing that sells other games is the fact that they are violent, therein lies their only difficulty; but for a game to be non violent and still fun clearly makes it better designed and better entertainment. This game is first class fun for people who enjoy the movie and people who are trying to find a non violent game for kids to truly have fun with. With such funny characters, funky talents, and intreging levels, this is one of the best games made for a DS.

3.0 out of 5 stars It is easy, which makes it great for my 3 & 5 year old boys, July 19, 2006

I bought this game because my 3 & 5 year old sons loved the movie and so many people went on about how easy it is.

Both my 3 & 5 years can play. My 5 year old has gotten pretty far through the game on his own, while my 3 year old can get through the first few levels, but tends to get stuck after that.

I can see where a child a few years older might finish the game in a few days (or even a a few hours). But for my little ones it is an nice fit.

The game is an okay platformer in 1 player mode.

The game has a mode to share the game between 2 DS consoles. This mode is terrible. It is simply one screen where Marty and Alex jump around killing foosa.

There are no mini games or other features, just the main single player mode and the multi-DS mode.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, December 28, 2005
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Madagascar (Video Game)
I recomend this game for everyone. It is so much fun. Once you start playing it you will get sucked into a world of adventure. You will really like it every time you play.
Gameplay-10/10
Graphics-9/10
The touch Screen is always in 3d. The other screen is in both 3d and 2d. They show clips of the movie on the top screen (which you will enjoy.) This game is both easy and hard. Until the level Lemur liberation it is easy. Pn after that it gets harder and harder. I myself haven't finished the game yet but I really enjoy it. It isn't a waste of money or time.If you like Madagascar the movie you'll definetly like the game.
