I bought this doll as a birthday present for my 2 year old niece, and it was a very beautiful doll, with bright red yarn hair, well made -- she even had a little scar from where Madeleine had her appendix out! My sister-in-law said she thought the doll was very beautiful, too.

We purchased this doll for our two year old granddaughter who loves all things Madeline. She adores it. The doll never left her arms for the rest of the day except when she was eating dinner and even then Madeline had to sit nearby. She takes the doll wherever she goes and on a trip to church last week-end there was a little car sickness. I'm afraid poor Madeline got the worst of it and that was the day she had a new adventure in the washing machine! We were all pleasantly surprised that she came through her cold water wash beautifully. After a day of air drying she looked as good as she did on Christmas morning. This doll has five atar durability and I know our granddaughter will enjoy her for many years.

She's very well made and as other reviewers have pointed out even carries an appendectomy scar from her surgery in the original Madeline story. My little girl carries her everywhere she goes. I just wish she was washable!

I purchased this item for myself to go along with the other Madeline dolls I've had since my childhood. This is, by far, the best-quality doll of the bunch. There are wonderful details, from the lace trim on her socks to the grosgrain ribbon on her hat. Her blue coat and plaid dress are removable, and underneath her apparel is an embroidered appendectomy scar.

At 18" tall, she's perfect for hugs. Little girls will delight in cuddling this Madeline doll while reading Ludwig Bemelmans' books about the adorable French school girl.

Probably the only thing I'm not too keen on about this doll is the fabric with which her body is made. It's like the same material McDonald's uses on their plush Happy Meal toys. Sure, it's soft, but it doesn't quite match the quality of the doll's clothing and accessories.

My granddaughter (age 6) has enjoyed this doll for several years as she adores the Madeline books. It is one of her favorites and it is durable and extremely well made. Also, soft and cuddly enough for bedtime.

MY ELDEST GRANDDAUGHTER IS EXPECTING HER FIRST CHILD IN NOVEMBER. THEY ARE NAMING HER MADELINE AFTER THE CHARACTER IN THE BOOKS. NATURALLY MADELINE HAD TO HAVE A DOLL SHE CAN LOVE ON, DRAG AROUND, AND CALL HER OWN FOR THE FIRST YEARS OF HER LIFE; NOT SOMETHING TO SIT ON THE SHELF. I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THE QUALITY AND WORKMANSHIP. MADELINE SURE IS CUTE IN HER BLUE COAT AND YELLOW HAT SITTING ON TOP OF HER RED HEAD. MY GREAT GRANDDAUGHTER WILL NOT BE RED HEADED THOUGH.

I purchased the Madeline doll (& books) to read to my 9 mo. grand daughter. She holds the doll (I hold her) and we read the poetic flow of language in the books.
Great together time. Great developing love of dolls and books.

Adorable, good size, the BLUE coat is the one, a treasure for years while our granddaughter grows up. Her parents love it.

We started with the book Madeline and then she received the doll and the Movie. A wonderful way to be able to discuss, bravery, compassion, and getting to know people after a bad first impression.

I was so excited to get this for my daughter because she loves the book. But she only played with it for about 5 minutes. It also didn't come in a box but I think the ones at toy stores have boxes which make it look a little more presentable as a gift.
