Intrigue in the court of France!, January 26, 2007
This review is from: Madame Serpiente (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
This is another example of jean Plaidy's fantastic writing skills!
Sent to marry Henri of Orleans, second in line to the French throne, when she was only fourteen, Catherine de' Medici found her hidden heartbreak disappearing with each hour she spend with her new husband. 'Passionate, but unwanted,' is what Plaidy calls this unfortunate young woman, for no sooner than she become Henri's wife in all, she discovers a secret hidden from her by the court. The presence of Diane de' Poitiers sparks some intrigue in Catherines otherwise dull life. She soon discovers that to Henri, Diane is more than just a spiritual advisor and friend, she is his beloved mistress.
Throughout this book, a thrilling tale of the life of Catherine De' Medici, it tells of her story of being an un-loved wife, the torture of loving a man who is indifferent to you, and a raging hatred of the woman who made it all come about. This is truly a wonderful read, and i recommend it to all who love historical fiction and the happenings of a Tudor-time court!
