Another great Madden game,

After playing this Madden, I am impressed with the improvements they made from last year. In the last years game, you probably remembered the gameplay being a bit unrealistic. For example in punting, none of your special teams players would block for you. This year the players do block for you and sometimes you can get some nice returns. However, I haven't been able to run it back for a touchdown yet. Also the pancake problem has been fixed. In last years game, all of your offensive lineman would rack up many pancakes and all of them would head to the pro bowl. This has been fixed and the game accurately depicts offensive lineman to their actual ability. Another improvement is the tackling animations. You can see recievers and runners carry their momentum for more yards and real life physics type tackles. The only drawback is the computer kicking. Many of the pro bowl kickers like Vinateri kicked for 55 yards and more sometimes. I know they are good, but 56 yard kicks don't happen all the time. Also the EA soundtrack is always going for more rap and rock, which I don't really care for. Some of the songs can be a bit annoying. I did enjoy the many songs from NFL classic music in the Madden 2006 version.
There is a key feature they always add for the Madden game. Since it is Shaun Alexander on the cover, they focus on the running game. Now you are able to control blockers and lead blockers toward defenders. This makes it easier to run the ball. Also I have noticed that you need to choose plays more carefully. Dime and quarter packages won't work for the run and could add up to a lot of yards for the offense. This has been a nice feature to add for the game, however I have noticed that the computer players would run for 40 carries and just abandon the pass game. All of the features like the francise mode has been given more depth. Along with the usual features like storyline central and owner mode, there is better depth in the off season. Free agency is before the draft and you can actually have the rookies do workouts with the team. Also you can scout rookies in the All star game for rookies. Much more off season things make francise mode even better. The graphics mainly look the same except the grass is much more realistic looking. A thing that I really don't like is the exclusive license in the Madden game. It doesn't make EA compete against other brands so they are not adding many new features which are extraordinary or amazing. The features in last years game and this year is pretty small compared to before the license. It is still a good Madden game and well worth a purchase though.

From what I gather with most reviews, the xbox 360 version is
subpar at best, and that's the version I really wanted. So I went ahead and got the PC version, and am VERY happy with it.It has all the things you want, editable players/roster,John and Al,fast load times, and the graphics are awesome (with enough cpu and video power). I'm running at 1600x1200,and all is bliss.

Realy good graphics but I would only recommend it for newer computers. This is the first time I've purchased a football game and I was surprised how the game designers assume everyone buying this has been playing video football for a long time. . Slim on the instructions and I read where the game was designed with a specific Logitech controller in mind, (not the one I have and it didn't map that great). Probably any new controller would map fine.

I purchased this game through the EA store. It shipped quickly; I got it the day after it was released. The graphics for the PC are much improved from the previous versions. I am very happy with the gameplay, however, between Pro & All-Pro there is a major difference in skill level required. I am able to play well in Pro mode but in All-Pro I can barely do anything. The computer opponent is just too difficult.
The other glitch which has been encountered in all three versions of the game that I have is after winning the Super Bowl and having the coach doused with Gatorade I have a system failure. So, if you're in the Super Bowl save your game as often as possible. That eliminates the need to having to play the game over again. Overall the game is worth the money. Practice is required to play well. Online play can be fun.

If you like football and PC games you will enjoy this game. The graphics are excellent and this is by far the best football game out there. The menus do take some getting used to but since that is the only drawback to the game you can't really complain. Unlike most, this is a very enjoyable PC game you will not lose interest in anytime soon.
Their are too many fun and useful features to mention however the biggest improvement is the addition of "lead blocking." It is not only fun but extremely useful when trying to produce a solid running game. The days of blaming a loss of yards on your team's blocking are gone. You now have complete control. As with previous versions of Madden you have compete control over the difficuly of the AI. Ignore people's reviews saying the computer's AI is too easy to beat or way too hard. You can control everything from the computer's QB accuracy to your run blocking to their kicker's power. The difficulty levels are 100% customizable. Finally, do not stray away from this game due to reviews claiming their system crashes. I do not doubt that they are in fact experiencing problems however I have not had any. I also have a Dell XPS system and have not had the game crash once. A system crashes due to conflicts with other software currently running. Close all programs before playing the game and you won't have a problem. (If they read the manual they would have found this out.) This game is 10X more fun with a gamepad than a regular keyboard and mouse. I bought and recommend the Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2.

Quite often with team sport computer games you end up playing many positions while you follow the ball. Other times the controls are confusing and boring even if you're lucky enough to play them correctly. I've never known a computer or console game that let you simply pick any position and play that without having to follow the ball all over the place. Many times one simply gets confused while the computer out scores you 20 to 1. With Madden Football 07 for the PC I install it with Game Jackal from download Slysoft so I don't have to insert the disk. Then I simply pick the teams and play computer against the computer and then sit back and watch. I find that entertaining almost as much as watching a real football game. With computer against the computer I find any team is entertaining for even when you pick a team according to the season win loss record there is nothing special about the scoring techniques' even if some teams put extra points on the board. I'm buying another 07 disk today because even with Jackal only installing the game it still does wears out.

The best Madden for PC!,

I gave up on Madden back on the 2005 version (which totally stunk). I had liked pretty all the versions from 98 on with a couple exceptions. I believe the big dissapointment was the 2000 version, but subsequent years were good. They improved the graphics of course with newer versions especially 2003 & 2004! But unfortunatly Madden did not make a good game for the console. Even after I tried some of the older versions I liked on PC, they were not the same for Xbox. So after getting tired of playing the old games, I enjoyed ESPN Football 2004 & 2005. I played those games for a couple years. But after reading nothing but bad things each year about the new Madden football, I held off on buying any more Maddens. But I finally decided to try the 2007 version. Honestly, this is the best PC sim ever made. It's better than ESPN football because the graphics are way better (on a good video card) and the gameplay is more realistic. If you play it on an older computer though without a good video card, you will get a false impression. The processor speed, memory, and video card make a difference (to make this the game experience it was meant to be). I don't rate advanced features too much, I'm talking mainly about your basic gameplay. Running offense, defense, special teams, etc and not being agitated by annoying things (that were filled in the 2005 version). The gameplay is smooth as silk, the running, tackling, catching, tackling is more realistic than any other PC sim. And they finally improved kick off returns which up to this version were impossible in Madden, no matter what you did. Now if you set up good blocks, and get a gap down the field, you can run it all the way. Or at least have a nice run back. Detail is vastly improved, realistic looking playing surfaces, grass, etc. Many of the small details I was very impressed with. But without a doubt this is the best football sim out there. ESPN football takes second place. Hopefully Madden will make a great football game this year for the Xbox 360 that can compare to this. I would really like to play it on my high definition TV. But for now, it's the best thing and vastly improved over previous years.

I love MADDEN NFL 07. It had the best graphics I have ever seen. When I played it, I could not put it down. The superstar hall of fame was pretty stupid though. The two minute drill was awesome! I played the PACKERS v.s. the 49RS. It works with 64 bit just in case.
