5.0 out of 5 stars Big improvements, way to go EA! August 31, 2006
By J. Kern
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I previously owned madden 06 for psp and while i found it to be pretty fun, the infamous loading time really brought the fun factor to its knees. EA fixed this problem and a few more with 07 and overall this game is GREAT. Great graphics, great sound, challenging situations, and more to love.

Being a Steelers fan, i first played against the titans to get a feel for the game play and it wasn't hard to pick up since the controlls are essentially the same as 06. EA opened things up with the analog stick which gives you more types of juking moves on offense and harder hits with the defense. the screen movement is smooth and fluent which makes finding an open reciever easier then 06. The game also moves faster then 06 so you have to be on your toes. The sound is also a big improvement when you've got on a good pair of headphones as the crowds are louder and the hits realy stand out. They've even added some new commentary from John and Al along with the some of the same stuff from 06.

The franchise mode is great. The game sets goals for you to reach each week and if you acomplish those goals then you're rewarded with points you can distribute amongst your players each week, constantly improving your team as you move through the season. Thanks to this feature, your rookies can develop faster as the season moves along. The graphics are a big improvement also with more shading and the players move better, even their hair seems to shake when they put the big hit on you. There's also some pretty cool end zone celebrations.

I can't seem to put this game down and am looking forward to the long road trip i have coming up thanks to this game. This game puts 06 to shame which wouldn't be too tough since EA was making their first football game on the psp platform with 06 so you can tell that they studied what needed to be better and did it. Good job EA, great game! You won't be dissapointed!

4.0 out of 5 stars First Timer January 9, 2007

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I've played all the team sports game (FIFA, NHL, MLB, NBA, etc..) but Madden 07 was my first experience with American football. Awesome!

Except for a couple of bugs (wrong audio, weird transparent effects), the game plays well in the rookie mode, better in the pro and even better on the All-Pro level. After three months of intensive training (gotta know your audibles), I'm now playing All-Madden and getting my butt kicked by the 49ers...

The mini game is boring but unlocks teams and tracks songs (useless).

The ad-hoc and infrastructure mode play better than other games (MLB 06), but it's still a work in progress that will never actually progress because of the weak wifi (b) capabilities provided by the PSP.

Now that the football season is almost over, it's time to pickup the game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent game....makes travel a whole lot faster January 11, 2007
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Had this game on a few trips over the Atlantic. It made time in the airport pass very quickly.

Graphics are amazingly good. Lots of mini games, along with my favorite: a full-fledged Franchise mode. It's amazing just how close this version is with the PS2 version. That's a lot of hours of football with great graphics. All this, and you can take it with you.

Well worth $30 bucks. Are you a football fan? You got a PSP? Then you need this game.

You can't have your cake and eat it too? Evidently not, in Madden NFL 2007 for the PSP, if you carry the analogy to offensive audibles.

Overall, this game is great. They got everything right. Except for the execution. The final product. It just isn't finished, and they don't think the problems are significant enough to fix. I disagree.

Most people who give the game 5 stars love it, and I love it too. I mean the graphics are dazzling, even on the PSP. I have been exiled from console games (well, the wife and I agree console game systems are annoying to watch on the living room TV if you aren't playing them) so I can't really compare them to the current console versions, but I know the console games must look spectactular when the PSP version looks so great. The players look right out of real life right down to the gloss on the helmets and the ripped up turf on the field. Gameplay is typical Madden, going way back, with extra customization as to player control. The offering of offensive and defensive plays are easier to find with grouping by overall formation, and then by subset (like 4-3, 4-3 over, and 4-3 under all accessible by horizontal key, while switching to nickel or special teams is accessible by vertical keys) and your formation stays put from one down to the next (an advantage over NCAA 2007) unless you get to fourth down, where special teams is automatically selected (a pain if you like to go for it on fourth down).

If comparisons to NCAA 2007 are any help (I rated it 5 stars cause they fixed their errors) the NCAA 2007 playbook SEEMS to have more plays than Madden 07, although the quality of plays in Madden has the edge.
