From the Manufacturer

Madden NFL 15

Deliver on Defense

Bring the Heat – Utilize a new set of pass rush tools to beat your blocker and disrupt the backfield. New mechanics to jump the snap, shed blocks and steer offensive linemen put your in control and make defensive linemen more dangerous than ever.

Risk vs. Reward – Defenders can now make aggressive or conservative tackles in the open field, with proximity cones showing the effective range of each. Aggressive tackles can lead to big plays and fumbles, but conservative tackles are more likely to bring the ball-carrier down without giving up extra yards. The choice is yours, but so are the consequences.

A New Point of View – See defense through a whole new lens with all-new camera angles that let you attack the play from the defensive’s perspective. Whether you lock in on a single defender and go for the big play or follow the action wherever the ball goes, you’ll see the play unfold through the defense’s eyes.

Best of Broadcast

Director’s Cut – New broadcast and NFL Films-inspired cameras capture the emotion of every play from fresh new perspectives. Choose from six gameplay cameras pre-snap to get the best view of the action.

Show Time – The new pre-game and halftime shows featuring studio host Larry Ridley tell the story of the game, complete with game-changing matchups and big play highlights.

Be a Student of the Game

Crowd-sourced Play Call – A revolutionary recommendation engine utilizes data from millions of online games to surface the best selection of plays possible for the match-up and situation. Sort from traditional sets and formations, to expert recommendations, to what’s working the best in the Madden community.

Run The Gauntlet – Skills Trainer has been expanded to teach not only gameplay skills, but strategy and football concepts as well. Learn how to read zone defenses, when to hot route a receiver, and more with nearly 50 new tutorials and drills. Once you’ve mastered the basics, enter The Gauntlet where your skills will be put to the ultimate test through intense challenges.

For years Madden has been a decent game that could be enjoyed by overlooking its considerable flaws and deficiencies which have generated frustration yet avoided game-breaking status. For many that was possible and the value was there, for some it was still too much to get past.

That really hasn’t changed with Madden NFL 15 which has improved in several areas of need but come up short yet again in others. What’s different this time is the number of options that change the way you can play for the better.

Continue on to check out what I’ve identified as the best and the worst after 15 hours of playing Madden NFL 15. There are obviously more to come as I’m not able to touch on issues people have seen with simmed stats or play calling fully yet as a few examples. A more complete review will follow late this week or early next week.

DEFENSIVE CAMERA ANGLE AND CAMERA SWITCHING ON THE FLY
It’s been a long time since a feature has completely surprised me in how much the functionality changes the way a game is played. Never would I have thought camera angles could have such impact as they have with the implementation in Madden 15.
I had no desire necessarily to change away from the traditional camera so when the announcements were made none of it resonated with me. Even when games like NCAA Football added them I would generally stick to the defaults and having tried specialty ones like “Player Lock” in that series a flipped option on defense was assumed to be virtually unplayable and a pointless offering.

The defensive camera in Madden keeps the action in front of you and that can actually be advantageous as you get the sense you’re containing big plays.

Let me start off by saying that with this Madden I switched over to next gen. I probably would not have gotten this game on the 360. With that said, this is the best Madden in YEARS!

After putting a connected franchise season into this game I feel that this is finally a step in the right direction for EA Sports. However, it is far from a perfect football game. I will just go ahead and give you the pros and cons of this game IMO, keep in mind that I did not play Madden 25 on the Xbox One so I don't know what exactly was in that game but these are certainly upgrades from current gen.

Pros:
-Graphics. They are better than ever on next gen.
-The crowd is finally upgraded from cardboard cut-outs to a living, breathing fan base.
-This also applies to the players and coaches on the sideline.
-Presentation is far better. Replay cameras actually keep up with the ball and the angles are far better.
-No more GameFlow, and the coach suggestions actually make sense.
-Better tackling, choice between an aggressive tackle, a conservative tackle, and still the famous hit stick.
-Overall, the game is just smoother, it plays well and also the players body language is more realistic.
-Better kicking trajectories.
-Addition of Gauntlet Mode, a fun new game mode where you try to do mini-game like plays to advance to a higher level. (I.e kick a 105 yard FG with the aid of hurricane force winds).
-An actual half-time show for the first time since Madden 10.
-You can now sim through the season once again without having to go week by week, which was annoying. Interestingly, there is also an option to sim the next 10 seasons as well.
-Addition of Game Prep to replace the meaningless practice.

Another terrible effort by EA sports. I don't know why I keep buying these games, I guess I just hope that one day it will actually be good.

-The graphics are OK, nothing like what I would expect for a next gen game.

-The commentary is laughably bad...really guys...that interception I returned was an efficient offense? Thanks for the useful commentary. I ended up turning it off.

-I can't speak to all the modes the game has, I really just want to play a game, maybe a season and that's it. They need to put more effort into the actual game play before I'll care about any game mode other than exhibition games.

-This is a pet peeve as a whole on newer video games, but I'm getting sick and tired of ads inside games that I pay 40+ dollars for. (If I bought this game for the full 60 I'd be really pissed off). If you want to make two versions, one cheaper with ads then we'll talk, until then charging full price for a game and including ads is ridiculous.

WARNING: Don't buy this for your football fanatic husband! You will have many a night where you wake up at midnight because you can't sleep without his snoring...as he is still downstairs playing this game online. And when he offers you to play, resist! You may find that you become a controller hog, taking it from him in the middle of a game because you want to play.

anyone considering buying this game will be a great decision especially if you're a big football fan. I've read some of the reviews where people rated the game with just one star. My recommendation is for everyone to ignore those crybabys. They're just nitpicking at the smallest things. It's a video game it's going to have some flaws but they're defining the entire game by picking out minor things about the game. ignore them. .it's a great game!
