Don't buy this game! Because first, you cant trade players or you cant sign free angets. 2nd the players look like they dont have helmets!!! 3rd there is no franchise and you cant make the gameplay hard. Every game you win by over 50 points. Your O-Line dosent block because when you wait in the pocket you will always get sacked! There is no person talking during the game! You dont here John Madden. Trust me during the season you will get very very bored! Listen to my advice and I hope this review helped you alot....

I loved the computer version of madden 2001 but the game boy game just does not cut it. The graphics are moderate and the sound is ok, but the gameplay is just boring. The password season thing is horrible, as you have to remember a 15 letter password that changes each time you play a game just to get into a season. The computer version had great graphics, gameplay, and moderate sound. The game boy color version has poor gameplay, moderate sound, and moderate if not poor graphics. The players are a bunch of little square like images with little bumps for helmets. The controls are ok, but still this game could have had so much more depth. EA Sports spent too much time on plays and not enough time on everything else. The phisics in this game are strange, and you cant always tell where the ball is going. The player and teams don't matter much, as you can score and do pretty much everything with any player. The sound is moderate, but it is not played during the game. The opening screen and other places where the sound is played are also designed well, unlike the actual game. The tune can be a little catchy, and the sound effects arent bad. Still, the sound doesnt add up to much. The game is not very well built at all. It is very boring to play a whole season, because you cant really save in the middle of a game. The games, even when set to 5 minute quarters, last over an hour. The gameplay is exactly the same each time, with you being either blown out or winning by over 50. It can be really boring to play a 16 game season plus playoffs when each game is the same. The game play is so boring, i couldnt get past the first game. The password part is also horrible. Why should you have to type up a 15 letter password to enter your game when other games yet you go in for free? It takes forever to write it down, remeber where you put it, and enter it in. I dont see why they cant let you save in the middle in the game. If they did that i would love the game.

Love the game! You just get hooked! The graphics are fine, but the gameplay is great. There are only 2 setbacks. No reverse plays, and it takes a long time just for one game. In all 150 plays should keep you satisfied! Matthew Morgan

On offense there are not many moves you can make while running the ball. The "A" button is dive. The "B" button does NOTHING! I didn't expect all the moves in the playstation versions (Juke, spin, hurdle, stiff arm...) but to have a button with no function is awful. That's not to say you can't do well running the football. When you hit into a tackler, usually your momentum stops, but your not down. Sometimes you even run through defenders and can pick up lots of yards.Passing is done by "icon" passing. There are 2 WRs, "A" and "B" for each button. I really like the concept of icon passing, but on the Game Boy Color it creates a problem. When you pass, you fade your QB back a little, and the screen follows him. Your WR then runs his route up field, going completely out of the screen after he's only run about 5 yds. You have no idea where your WRs are on almost every pass, unless you throw a screen pass. This is because the field is 2D and the screen is small. When you do choose a WR to throw to and the ball finally gets to him, you'll notice he's usually WIDE open and can run for a huge gain. Defense is near impossible. You can dive with "A" and switch defenders with "B". It's tough to tackle as your defenders seem to go right through the runner. And pass defense is worse. As on offense, the WR goes off screen quickly. This time you have to defend him and are left to guess where the opposing WR is. It's very difficult to do. Your computer controlled defenders don't help either as they're usually nowhere in sight on long passes. So, it's too easy on offense and too hard on defense. That's why every game ends about 56-49. And there's hardly any options. No option for setting the difficulty (Rookie, Pro, All-Madden). Only 5,10,15 minute quarters. Imagine playing a 10 minute quarters game, the score would be 112-105. It has all the players, but by number only. And you can play a season, but can't simulate any games. The playbook was probably taken out of Madden 94 on genesis, cause it contains the "Run N Shoot". I would not recommend this game to anyone. It's the best for playstation and playstation 2, but just not on the Game Boy Color.

I do not recommend this game because I think your're better off buying Madden 2000! This game has bad graphics and there is no gameplay.

well when i bought the game, i realized it was for the GB and that the graphics wouldn't be great. i accepted that fact before buying the game. my disapointment was in the game play. the first time i played i was blowing the other team out by the 2nd quarter. 90% of the passes are completions, so there is no challenge involved. also, i realized that there was no NFLPA lisence so the players would only be identifies by numbers, but they dont even keep players stats. i will say this, there is potential for a good game here, all it needs is players stats and difficulty settings, and if they do that i will buy it again next year.

I thought that this game was an impressive transition from all the normal madden games on more advanced platforms. The worst part are the graphics, but other than that this game is sweet. It has a lot of plays, almost all of them from the PSX version. This is a good game that plays exactly like the playstation version, but with a beating to the graphics

this is one of the worst games i have purchased. the players look like little dots. when playing the defense you cannot tackle very well if at all. there are almost no interceptions or fumbles. n offense almost every pass is a completion. you can pretty much run all over the computer and last but not least why even have a kicking game. to sum it up there has to be a better game with some kind of compettion, i mean i like an offensive game as much as the next person but this is rediciouls.
