I'm learning football on this game.,
By
This review is from: Madden NFL 2003 (Video Game)
Last week I wouldn't have claimed to know very much about football. I won't insult all you veteran armchair quarterbacks by saying that I've figured the game out, either. But having spent one hour after another playing Madden NFL 2003 on the Gamecube, I must say that I'm quickly becoming a fan of football and am planning on sticking with the game through the 30-season "Franchise" mode. I having enjoyed using the "Football 101" mode (John Madden teaches the player every offensive play in the book) to hone my skills on the football field. Rather than jumping in and starting a losing season (because I stink at the game), I can practice, and earn tokens to buy Madden Cards in the meantime! The wealth of modes is indispensable to a guy like me who is new to the sport and who wants to build his skills. Basically, Madden 2003 is teaching me the game, and I am loving the experience. The reviewers before me hit all the other points. I just wanted to encourage you new players to learn the game with Madden.

Solid Game,

I recently got a Gamecube for X-mas and I thought about what games I wanted to buy. The first one I got was Madden 2003. It's a great game. I love the graphics. The game play is smooth and there are many added bonuses that I didn't have when I used to play the old Madden games on the SNES. The Mini-Camp is cool for the fact that you can hone your skills. Not just passing, but tackling, and kicking and such. Loved that. What I think I like best of the bonus stuff is Football 101. The average football fan, I think, knows the game pretty well. But, for those who are casual fans Football 101 will teach you all you need to know. It shows you plays and how they are supposed to be run. Then it's your turn. A great primer for a solid game. I liked the fact that I was able to create a team also. We don't have a team to root for in Los Angeles, so I just created one, uniforms, stadium and logo... and fielded them. We're in first place in the NFC west. Solid game.

Yet Another Madden Classic,

Madden is the best football series ever. No, it's the best sports series ever. No, it's the best series ever.Madden 2003 is great. Madden 2002 and Madden 2003 are pretty much the same except they made somethings better. Music The music is much better in this than 2002 Anouncing Pat Summeral isn't that bad but Al Micheals is a great improvement. Franchise More detailed franchise mode Graphics There hasn't been that much of a change but some quarterbacks throw sidearm. Better tackles and more players breaking tackles. Plus they've finally allowed two players to smash the quarter/running back. Interceptions are really cool in this game because when you pick it off you are either running it by huge guys that can't run or fast guys that can't tackle. Another thing I had gotten frusterated with was Kick returns. It seemed like you would never be able to get a good return but in this game. You always have a shot at going the distance. Ya gotta get it if your a madden man

I AM a fan of football games but this feels WAY too much like NCAA Football 2003 with a different title and cover art. It does have different modes, not too deep. I was struggling last week with a decision whether or not to get NHL 2004 PlayStation2. NHL 2004 happens to be MUCH better. It also doesn't have a good "addiction level" as I call it. Besides, the box now has a hobby, collecting dust. Commentary is quite annoying. Just the same thing again and again and again. Anyway, if looking for football, buy it. Otherwise, buy a better game like NHL 2004 or Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee or even Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2.

Madden NFL 2003 IS IN THE HOUSE,
A Kid's Review

Madden NFL 2003 probably has the best sound and graphics in all the gamecube games. You can make your own team, make their uniform, select their stadium, select how long you want the game to last, and much more. Also, the teams have realistic stats and many gameplays to choose from. You can also design your own gameplays for all of the positions. Not to mension... you can also play tournements. Their also are 2-minute drills for throwing, reciving, intercepting, tackling, kicking, and much much more. You have to try to defeat as much of the levels as you can. The more you defeat, the more madden cards you get. (You can trade madden cards, sell them, and buy them. To buy them, you must do tasks which include throw a 30 yard pass, intercept a pass, recover a fumble ball. But since these are such easy tasks, you get less points then you would to complete do the folowing tasks. Run 60-80 yard in one play, or when your opponent kicks the ball you run the whole way without being tackled, complete 20 consecutive passes, and much more tougher stuff. Levels range from 1-5, 5 being the most difficult. This is probably the best sport game on gamecube. OUT OF 10 Sound-10 Graphics-10 Gameplay-9.5

Still the Best,

EA Sports continued in the Madden legacy this year. Madden is still by far the best football game franchise out there. Best graphics, best gameplay, best extras.A new addition to the game this year, that I love, is the mini-camp mode. The mini games are lots of fun and wicked addictive. They also improved the franchise mode. Now you can scout rookies and see them before you draft them. It will be hard for EA to improve upon this for 2004.

I have owned this game for one year and I have not lost any intrest in it what so ever. Sure the comentary is a little repetitive, but every time you play you have a diffrent experience. A great new feayure they added this year was the mini-camp, a fun way to become a better player. wether you like multiplayer, kicking computors [behind], or just playing football then Madden 2003 is the game for you

Could the NFL get any better?,

No, the NFL could not get any better. EA sports hits big as they always do. Don't even bother renting NFL Fever or NFL2k3, Madden kicks them all out the door...AGAIN! Unbelieveable graphics, and different levels of passing modes and coaching for the beginner and the expert. Franchise mode, madden cards, mini-camp, two minute drill, oh man! I could go on and on! Create yourself on your own custom team, stadium, coach, and playbook. And let me mention the graphics again. WOW! Seriously, this game is continuously overwhelming.

Has Madden reached its Peak?,

I eagerly waited months for the release of Madden 2003. I have played the entire series from the beginning and consider myself a Madden guru. This review is for Madden on Gamecube, I have yet to play on any other system. Hmmm... Where to start? I am a little upset at the gameplay. Seems like my quarterback is afraid to throw the ball under pressure. If you like to throw alot you are dead meat on a good blitz. As for the running game, if you are playing against Faulk and Co., take the day off and go golfing. I have never seen so many missed tackles in my life! Linebackers and hard hitting D-backs are pansies in this game. My buddy did a fake field goal, my linebacker ran up to his KICKER, got a autograph or something, and let him run in for the 2pt conversion.I was amazed! Don't even let me get started on the injuries during a game! The graphics have improved on a plus side. And the training mode is pretty cool. If you are a beginner football player, this game will help you learn alot. I like the added plays on offense and defense. It does make the playbook very deep, and in theory should cover about every aspect of Offense and Defense. In a nutshell: I myself was looking for more classic Madden in this game. Why cant we bring back the ambulance to pick up the injured players??? I myself would like a better draft where the teams sit at tables like a real draft. I like the commentary better than last year. Its not AS boring. Anyway, I am getting angry thinking of how let down I am. I was looking for the BEST football game ever and didn't get it. I rate it 4 stars because I am a loyal Madden fan.

Overall a total Upgrade!,

Madden is back and making his second appearence on GameCube. This is a better overall game compared to last year's model. Some people say that this game is hard to play due to the Nintendo GameCube Controller. Let's just say after you figure out all the buttons, it can be an easy transition from PS2. One new feature is the mini-camp. I just bought the game yesterday and let me tell you this feature is fun. I've been a veteran of the Madden Series since the beginning on SNES. I thought I new how to play the game well. The mini-camp proved me wrong. The first couple difficulty settings are pretty easy, but once you go beyond that good luck. The only negative thing that comes to mind is the commentary. Being a big fan of NCAA Football, it would be nice to get someone else in the booth with Madden and Michaels. It is refreshing however to see that Summeral is gone. Michaels does a decent job, but you can still tell that some words are previously spoken and strung together, example. SAPP on the tackle. That is his FIFTH tackle today. Nother makes me more mad then that. But I'm not playing the game for the commentary. One other new feature is this TRAX idea. They made an album for this game and it consists of 11 tracks, ranging from hed(PE), to Bon Jovi. Two words for you readers, GETS OLD. Not only does it get old but when the songs change a menu flashes on the screen and tells you what song you're listening to, often messing your play up, due to concentration. Overall Good Game, just some minor tweeking. |
