This review is from: Made in America (Paperback)
I am reading Peter Maas books. The title was not familiar so I ordered "Made in America". As soon as it arrived and I read the back cover, I realized my mistake. I had read this book "Years ago". THe book is about a fictional Giants Halfback named Ritchie Flynn. Ritchie tore up his knee and is now a whiskey salesman. He needs money and approaches a small time mafioso, who I think is based on Joe (?) Valachi. Since Maas also wrote the Valachi Papers I think this assumption is correct. A brutal loan shark gets involved and Flynn goes to the Feds. An unscrupulous prosecutor manipulates Flynn to involve a mob boss (who I think is based on Frank Costello.) The Boss then enlists a former Federal Prosecutor to replace his long time Attorney.
I consider "Made in America" just a great read, and highly recommend it. |
