My son loves to create games. He would design and create games on a daily basis. We bought this so he could make multiple games but the pieces are not reusable.

I am seriously in love with the products made by Made By Hands company. This company makes wonderful products that give kids complete creative control of their own products, supplying only fun pieces to work with.

Make-Your-Own Games is one of their awesome kits. It deservedly won an Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Best Toy Award Gold Seal. In each kit is a completely blank game board, a completely blank spinner, 2 large and 2 small dice, also blank, 1 deck of blank cards, a glue stick, and over 800 die-cut pop out shapes in a multitude of colors. The game also comes with an idea sheet, but that's about it! From there, your child's imagination takes over.

Here are some ideas for using this kit:

Use the kit to make a board game from your favorite book! Pair it with Journey to Gameland, a great book for kids telling them how to do just that.

Use the kit to make your own version of Candyland, allowing your child to substitute one of their favorite things for candy.

Make a trivia game that you can use again and again, substituting each week's vocabulary list or math subject for the trivia cards.

This is a GREAT gift for a child who loves making games, such as my 9-year-old son. He sat right down and made up a Mario Brothers Life-type game, and then a tricky shape-matching card game. Even after two full games made, there are still enough pieces for at least one more. I highly recommend this product!

My son had a 6th grade Science project due and we didn't have the time or the energy to start from scratch. For the price and convenience this was well worth it. We were able to quickly create a game with question and answer cards using information he was studying in school. We used our own box to hold the game and created our own custom cover for the box so that he could use the name (of the game) that he had chosen.

This kit contained everything we needed to make a game.
He was able to bring it to school and the kids could learn by answering science questions and moving through the game. We made it sort of like Candyland -- spin the wheel land on a certain colored block and pick up a card with that color. Answer the science question correctly and move ahead a certain number of spaces, until you reach the end. Answer it incorrectly and stay where you are. Some spaces said "go back 5 spaces"
