"MADE in JAPAN" Collectibles,
By LinAnne "Lin22" (Puget Sound) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Made in Japan Ceramics 1921-1941: With Price Guide (Schiffer Book for Collectors) (Paperback)
I collect older (collectible) MADE IN JAPAN items and therefore I have quite a few books on the subject. This book is not complete but quite helpful. Photos are nice. Many different volumes have been written on this subject. Infact, I own 3 other books on this subject. When "Made in Japan" collectibles were issued there were sooooo many different items sold, that it would be impossible to include all of them in just one book. The author tried and did a good job though.

Made in Japan Ceramics (1921-1941) with Price Guide,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Made in Japan Ceramics 1921-1941: With Price Guide (Schiffer Book for Collectors) (Paperback)
I certainly enjoyed this book because it contains good colored pictures, satisfying history and a guideline for the price of most items. This book shows pictures identifying the several different markings applied at the factories in Japan for export to the United States. These marks may be stamed, embossed, or incised or may be a paper label. The marks was only a small portion of the history found in this book. I have a toy tea set in the original box that was given to my Mother in 1935, when she was 8, from her brother who had just came home on leave (he was stationed in Japan). My mother did not play with this set very much and kept it in the box;therefore, the box and the toy set are still in very good shape and this is what got me started with collecting items from this time period. I have many items but did not realize much about them until I read this book. This book actually talked about how rare it is to find these toy tea sets in the box (page 22).
