The real deal,
By GKG (Huntsville) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Made Myself Lonesome (Audio CD)
Let me start by saying that this young man is the real deal. I have seen him perform in St. Louis at blues festivals and at blues clubs. He is one of the very few performers I have seen that actually plays blues at blues festivals! He does not have a three or four piece horn section behind him and he does not play 50s Doo Wop rock that some misguided people take for blues. Brian Curran plays traditional, delta style blues. Believe me, this guy can play Mississippi John Hurt songs like no one else, and he is not trying to copy Stevie Ray Vaughn either. This dude has a deep appreciation for the old school and it shows. He is also a very nice guy and is very appreciative of the folks that attend his shows. I am very, very picky when it comes to blues and this disc is one of my favorites. I would recommend this disc if you are interested in hearing some honest to goodness acoustic blues. Quality Guarantee: This disc does NOT contain a cover version of Mustang Sally!
