5.0 out of 5 stars Modify Your Expectations
These are Turkish apricots that differ from varieties found in the U.S. Dried Turkish apricots are moister and thicker and have a somewhat tangy taste. Since these apricots are unsulphured, they are brown. (Sulphur is used manly to make fruits look more attractive. Sulphured apricots are yellow, just as sulphured "golden" raisins are.)

1.0 out of 5 stars These Apricots Aren't Dried Properly
One star. These Apricots aren't dried all the way through. Some of them were fine, but others were wet inside and tasted off. They gave me a stomach ache and the runs. They were even stored in the refrigerator after opening. I ended up throwing out the rest of the first package. I thought I just had gotten a bad batch. When I went to open the second bag, I noticed...

Any bag of dried fruit (organic or not) will most likely have a piece or two that is drier and tougher than the rest. Made in Nature is no different.

I find the fruit to be mostly sweet and chewy. This is a good mid-day snack. Dried apricots can also be finely chopped and cooked with oatmeal. The reasealable bags are terrific. I will continue to purchase these as the price is lower than health food stores and shipping is free on orders of $25 and up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delish!, April 4, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We love this all natural, organic apricot.
Very sweet and soft. Worth the money. You pay more at a health food store per bag. I,ve been shopping from the health food stores for over 25 years. Let me say that the color is not as bright and cheerful as the non- organic counterpart but keep in mind that this is all natural. It was not treated with chemicals, preservatives or colorings. This is good tasting and good for you. For me, it is good quality and deliscious. I will order this again and other natural fruit products by them. Enjoy!

They were even stored in the refrigerator after opening. I ended up throwing out the rest of the first package. I thought I just had gotten a bad batch. When I went to open the second bag, I noticed that two of the remaining bags (out of the 6 pack) were fat with air - like they could explode eventually. That is bacteria inside giving off their gaseous byproduct. If you've ever seen a can of food that wasn't properly canned, you'll know what I mean. They can rupture. I threw out the remaining bags because Amazon only has a thirty day return policy. Don't waste your money! There are better dried fruits out there that won't make you sick.

5.0 out of 5 stars I really like these, December 22, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Based on the reviews here, there clearly isn't a consensus on these. Personally, I really like them. I tried them for the first time last week after buying them from Amazon, and after finishing my first bag of them, my opinion hasn't changed from my first bite - very tasty. After raisins, apricots are my dried fruit of choice. These are the first organic dried apricots that I've tasted, and they have a stronger flavor than the ones that I've had in the past. They are less tangy, but they have more of a sugary taste to them that I think makes them great for a sweet snack.

As mentioned, they are dark in color and therefore do not look like the dried apricots that most people are probably used to seeing. However, I think they taste great, and I particularly like that they are organic. People may want to try a single bag from the local store before ordering these seeing as how they appear to be a love them or hate them item.

2.0 out of 5 stars quite inconsistent, December 18, 2010

This review is from: Made In Nature Organic Apricots, Dried, Unsulfured, 6-Ounce Bags (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
We normally buy organic dried unsulphured Turkish apricots in bulk 5# packages through a food club. They are always plump and moist even after the package has been opened and put into smaller packages and stored in the refrigerator for a few weeks. I decided to try these small bags because most of the reviews were positive.

We were very disappointed. There is a difference between "dried" and "all dried up". Most of these Made In Nature brand individual fruits are all dried up! In fact, they are closer to being like dried apples than to being like apricots.

The apricots are "OK" when you first open the bag, with a few of them being as plump and moist as the bulk apricots we usually eat. However, after being stored in the refrigerator for even one day a high percentage of them are extremely dry and hard to chew. This has been true of all of the 6 bags we received in this shipment. We will not be ordering them again. We are going back to ordering the 5# bulk bags of unsulphered Turkish apricots from our food club.

These are not what I was expecting. They don't taste like any unsulfered apricots I've ever eaten before. Their texture is strange, too. They're soft and squishy, and not very chewey, which is what I'm used to. Most importantly, they smell and taste awful. Amazon doesn't accept returns on Grocery items, so it's money down the drain for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another wonderful product from Made In Nature, February 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Made In Nature Organic Apricots, Dried, Unsulfured, 6-Ounce Bags (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
I have enjoyed very much every Made In Nature product I have tried so far, including theseMade In Nature Organic Apricots, Dried and Unsulfured, 6-Ounce Bags (Pack of 6) which I really love. Made In Nature gives me everything I want in dried fruit ~ organically grown, unsulphured fruit. These are Turkish apricots ~ moist, plump, sweet and with a lovely amber color. The only problem I have with them is that they are too good and I can't control myself from eating the entire package in one sitting! I'm really bad that way...thank goodness I don't have a weight issue or dental problems!

I also love Amazon's pricing. These products are way overpriced at my local health food store and are a great value at Amazon. Considering how quickly I can go through my stash, I should be ordering a larger quantity. Well, maybe next time...

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for making apricot oatmeal, March 18, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Made In Nature Organic Apricots, Dried, Unsulfured, 6-Ounce Bags (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
I bought these mainly to make apricot oatmeal for my baby, and I have to say it has become my signature baby food because even my adult friends and family members love to eat my apricot oatmeal. I soak the apricots in water overnight, then boil them in another pot of water. The apricot water smells and tastes so good! Then I use the water to make oatmeal with it along with puree apricots. I love the fact is that they are organic and safe for my baby. They are also cheaper than those sold in the organic stores. I also like the bags are resealable, so they don't get stale first. I always look for ways to cut down my grocery budget, but these are just one of those things that you just have to spurge and eat right.

Good product, nice quality, but these are super juicy and sweet, not at ALL tangy like I'd hoped! I guess that's a good thing though, there is no way you can sit down and eat an entire bag of these, without the tang, they are better suited for baking!
