—Architects + Artisans

"Platt’s accompanying essays include plenty of practical design advice."
—Palm Beach Daily News

"For the latest home makeover trends check out the new design book by architect Campion Platt."
—Karen Mills Interior Design Blog

Format: Hardcover
If you enjoy "modernism with soul" as writer/client Jay McInerney describes Campion Platt's hand-crafted approach to design, you should enjoy this book. Campion believes you can have "made to order" furnishings and rooms to suit your personal style. It's fun to see the one-of-a-kind pieces Platt has designed to fit particular rooms. I particularly liked a pair of yellow leather ottomans and interesting desks Platt designed for clients. Shapes and textures come alive in Platt's rooms. He enjoys experimenting with fabrics and textures, and uses a lot of rectangular and square outlines in his furnishings like designer Steven Gambrel.

I'd saved a photo of his fuschia-accented Palm Beach living room in my design files as it was so original and attractive. This book opens with that room and takes you through 18 design projects from city pied-a-terres to lofts to country estates--you'll see the culmination of 25 years of his architectural and interior design work.

I like his interiors best when he combines his soulful modernism with antiques as in the Captain's House in this book. For those of you who like a comfortable modernism that is clean-lined and welcoming, you'll enjoy this book. The room on the cover is indicative of the style inside: angular modern lines softened by yummy textures. Modernism with soul isn't easy to find; this book is a good place to start.

This book has beautifully photographed interiors. The overall design is clean, contemporary without being "cold" looking. Worth having in the library to show Clients.
