I like ceramic coffee cups that can be put in the microwave to reheat a drink and go in the dishwasher for easy cleaning. On the other hand, the insulated plastic and metal cups with lids keep the drink warm for over an hour. This cup appeared to be the perfect cup that combined the best of both worlds, except that it doesn't keep the coffee warm for more than half an hour. The lid isn't shown very well in the pictures, but it is a circular plastic piece that rotates to open and close for drinking.

The problem with the lid is that when it is supposed to be closed, the seal is very poor and you can see your drink through the gaps. When the lid is open the drink comes out through a small (about 1/4") hole. I'm not sure why, but the coffee seems to dribble down the side when I drink out of this cup.

When there is coffee in the cup, the sides are too hot to touch for more than a second. It appears that the ceramic used for the cup isn't a very good thermal insulator. The handle is comfortable so this isn't an issue for drinking, but probably contributes to not keeping the coffee warm.

The cup gets two stars because it is (in my opinion) quite attractive and feels comfortable in the hand. It also fits nicely in the cup holder in my car.

This has got to be one of the worst mugs I've ever used. First, they need to take the "travel" portion out of the name of this product. Here is my list of why this "travel" mug is better left at home:

1) It has no rubber gasket, so there is not a seal of any kind. I hadn't even pulled out of my driveway before I had spilled coffee all on the inside of my car.

2) Because there is not a good seal, by the time I got to work, what hadn't spilled out was cold. I had to reheat my coffee 3 times over a 1-hour period just to keep it warm.

Don't waste your money. Great in theory, massive fail.

It is HARD to find a ceramic travel mug in a decent size, especially without a stainless band wrapped around the bottom. I wanted one without stainless in case I needed to reheat it. This mug is great. My only tiny complaint is that the lid does not have a tight, spill proof seal, but it is totally worth it to me to use this mug and be a little more careful about spilling than to use the plastic toxin leaching travel mugs, or the to-go cups with toxic lining you get at coffee shops. I would definitely recommend this mug. I bought one for our house and one for my parents, and they love theirs too. Makes a great gift! Good investment!

I wanted a ceramic travel mug cus the plastic ones I used over time had a bad taste to them that I just couldnt clean out, making every cup of coffee slightly rancid tasting. Metal mugs had a, duh, metal taste. Well this mug does the job in that regards; no foul tastes, no metallic interactions, no plastic leaching, just fresh, untainted coffee. The first problem is that it doesnt keep my coffee warm, which I knew when buying it cus its ceramic... horrible insulator. But that didnt bother me so much as the lid which does not stop any sort of splashing. I have a mere 10 minute drive to work down a non bumpy road with two turns. My coffee splashed up and out of the cup (right through the "cover") going over each of the tiniest bumps and splashed out ever moreso on the turns. I read about this being a problem via other reviews, so I bought the white mug so I can really see if it does spill out. After my commute my cup had a pin stripe pattern of coffee dripping down it on all sides. I actually had to place a napkin in my cupholder halfway through my commute to absorb all the coffee that was spilling. Now my car has great shocks, I can go over railroad tracks and speed bumps at 45 mph with feeling only a little tickle, but even with regular roads, this thing spills everywhere. In the end though, the coffee that I had left in my cup (still about 80%) tasted delicious, if not just a little cold.

To all my cyber buddies - taking the price into account, this purchase was a pretty good choice for my particular situation. I only use it as an office mug; I don't think it is well suited for travel. Surprisingly, it wasn't easy to find a non plastic large capacity mug for a reasonable price, with a lid, and one that doesn't have crazy designs on it and is not overly feminine. I would say this is a unisex mug that leans towards the feminine side (maybe 60% feminine, 40% masculine). It has a large 20 oz capacity which is great because after I am done with my tea in the morning I can use it for water and drink a healthy amount throughout the day...and I can track how much liquid I drink because I know the capacity. And yes, it does not hold heat very long but I don't nurse my hot drinks so I didn't want a mug that kept my drink unbearably hot for hrs. I drink tea out of it and it keeps the boiling water hot for a good 30 minutes or so. The few times I drank coffee from it, I was a bit disappointed that it got cool too quickly. I got it in plain white and it does get stained, so washing it every so often is recommended. It's a bit of a pain to wash by hand because it has a lip on the inside that is hard to get to, and it is long and thin in design so it is difficult to get your sponge all the way to the bottom, unless you have one of those fancy sponges that is designed for that sort of thing. It does get hot on the outside so you'll need to use the handle if you have boiling water in it. The handle is very large and ample enough for most hands. My biggest complaint with this mug (and I knew it would be when I made the purchase) is the plastic lid. I wanted a lid so that my tea can steep properly. But, I wanted one that stayed attached and that wasn't plastic.Read more ›
