4.0 out of 5 stars Just Keep Getting Better
I've been listening to E-town for a long time, even played some shows with them when I was touring around. They have matured both musically and lyrically. They are tight as hell now, I love the new direction they are taking with pulling back the rap vocals in place of more hardcore and clean singing. 3.0 out of 5 stars Not their best, but still decent.
If you want to get a taste for this band pick up The Renaissance. It is probably the most varied of their albums, as it has everything they have done on the same cd. This one is good, but their are too many tracks that just sound like fill-ins. I think the album starts off well, but slowly declines until the last three songs. I can't say its better or worse than any of...

They are tight as hell now, I love the new direction they are taking with pulling back the rap vocals in place of more hardcore and clean singing. Anthony's voice has gotten stronger throughout the years and it stands out on this record. And lyrics that are more socially conscious rather than just "thug" lyrics. Impressed! Very impressed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Big Step in the Right Direction, December 12, 2004

I don't who the guy is that reviewed this before me, but ETC's "Made For War" is waaaaaay better than "The Renaissance". Alot less of the stupid songs on this record(More Than Incredible, Let's Go sucked!), and alot more of the thugcore we all know and love. Stand-outs are Pariah, Plougshares and Swords, What Can I Do, and The Distance.

They're no Lamb of God, but they aren't as bad as people like to think.

E.Town Concrete and their new album Made for War rock way heavier than their last c.d. which was too much of the rap/rock thing for me. This album is just straight up Metal with the exception of 1 track. If you're into real heavy metal pick this album up. It's worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly Surprised, December 13, 2004

Honestly, I wasn't expecting what I got. I love this CD.

You have to like this kinda thing to get into it, and ETC has some really rough edges, but I must say that "What Can I Do?" is one of the best songs of it's genre.

High recommendation for all the heavy rap/rock fans out there.

This one is good, but their are too many tracks that just sound like fill-ins. I think the album starts off well, but slowly declines until the last three songs. I can't say its better or worse than any of their other cd's, because it is so different. If you like more of a tough guy attitude, with a horrible rap thrown in, then this is for you. Overall, its a good album, but nothing to get excited over. I think they rushed too much to come out with it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Coulda done better...., January 9, 2005
This review is from: Made for War (Audio CD)
Ive been listening to Etown since their first Ep. Since then the band has grown in many ways. Unfortunately in my opinion alot of their material from when they were younger is still their best. MADEFORWAR sticks to Etowns Thugcore sound, eliminating some rapping and replacing it with more metal. On this disc there are some standout tracks ("What can I do", for one is an awesome song). "Do you know what its like" is a decent rap for what it is. "Wide Awake, Ploughshares, and Made for WAr" are all good hardcore/metal songs. However the rest of the songs are decent, but dont stand out in any way. Some of the lyrics are a little weak too. Check out TIME2SHINE (the bands first LP) if you want to hear some of Etown's most notable songs. THE RENAISSANCE is also a good cd. Honestly if i wasnt an Etown fan for so long, i probably wouldnt have bought this cd.

This is a very good album. I've been listening to E.Town since what us losers call the "red demo", and this is a hell of a record. Keep in mind that this album was released early in proportion with their other albums, only a year and a half after The Renaissance. No one mentions The Second Coming, in my opinion their best work. Although Anthony's voice is near unintelligible on that record, the lyrics stand out. Anyhow, Made For War was something they wanted to release in correlation with the presidential elections. Best Tracks- Ploughshares and Swords, Do You Know What it's Like, and Made for War. Worth the $12 they ask you for.
