We're going to New Orleans as soon as school is out. We're taking my three pretend children, ages 3 3/4, 9, and 10. The baby stays home. The grandparents, my brother and his wife, and I are the adults (usually). Two of the three children are certified ADHD. That means they need things to do. When I take them on adventures, we sing and yell and carry on, but that kind of stuff drives the grandparents crazy. I found this book, "Made You Look: A Book of Picture Puzzles" and started a road trip bag. It is the first item to go in.

First, the book is over-sized, I think, to make each page and picture larger and items easier to find. Being in a spiral book makes the pages easy to turn backwards and the book easier to handle. Several pages have detachable items. In the very back is a large envelope in which to store these items. Very clever!

If you are familiar with the I Spy series, then you have a vague idea of this book's premise. Starting with simpler puzzles and working toward complexity, the book will keep little eyes spell-bound for a good while.

Here are some sample puzzles. On the copyright page and adjoining page is a scene of a cross of streets in a city block. The trick is to find how many times the title of the book can be found on these two pages. Bunches! The actual first puzzle invites the reader to find the numbers 1-100 in this mish-mash of kooky monsters, fantasy figures, and odds and ends.

Here's another one. It is a knick-knack container crammed full of objects in every cubby hole. Included is a list of items the viewer must find. Now a page with people wearing a multitude of facial disguises inside frames. You must find how many of the faces belong to this one particular man. Facial recognition tricks are the rule here.

This is a great Klutz book. Perhaps inspired by the relatively new LIFE Magazine picture puzzle books. I think in some ways this book does those one better due to the variety of different picture puzzles you can find within it. As with all Klutz books this book has some nifty props included (you punch them out) that are needed to help solve some of the puzzles. I'm gonna add this book to my classroom library in the fall I figure it will be a big hit along with The Guinness Book of World Records, and DK's Pick Me Up, as well as the LIFE books I mentioned earlier.

My 3 year old received this for her birthday and all three of my girls (2 years old, 3 years old, and 6 years old) as well as my husband and I really love this creative book that takes the "I Spy" books to a different level. We only wish there was a volume 2! My 6 year old reads the directions to the younger two and they can complete all the pages together. What a great passtime. This would be great to take in the car or on the plane with you for hours of entertainment for a large range of ages, not just 9-12 as is suggested. (comes with the answers too though the girls refuse to see them so they can figure it all out themselves)

I use this book in my middle and high school classes as a reward for finishing up tasks early. The kids love it and fight over it so much that I had to get another one. This is one in a series of books and they are all loved by the kids. They all enrich a child's life and will be loved and used in your home....by the way, the kids are really quiet when they are concentrating on this book and I teach in a school that is all ADD and ADHD students.

Bought this book for our 4 kids and they range from 2 yrs to 11. All the kids love it! I go through the book with the 2 and 3 year old and call out things for them to find. helps with counting, and colors. The older kids like to take it on their own and keeps them busy for hours! my nine year olds fav was finding the four leaf clovers on every page (even the cover. only downside is the envelope in the back of the book. it riped the first night. other than that great book for all ages!

Filled with over fifty-three full color pages of entertaining games, treasure hunts, and puzzles, this interactive book will provide hours, days, weeks, months, and years of fun for both children and adults. Each page is bursting with vivid artwork, including some 3-D pages with pop-out items for some of the activities. The pictures in this book are amazing and ones that you will want to analyze for a while, even after you have successfully completed the activity on the page. Every activity is different from the others and yet equally amusing; the activities do not require writing in the book, so they are perfect for enjoying again and again. For the pop-out items, there is a large envelope attached in the book for easy storage. There is an answer key located in the back of the book that is easy to use, even for younger children. This durable hardback book would be an exceptional choice to bring while waiting at doctors' appointments, on travel, and to ease boredom; this book would also make a fun gift.
