Replace your current analog hygrometer with this digital hygrometer for more accurate and easy humidity readings. This hygrometer will not need to be recalibrated as often as an analog. Accurate to +/- 2% at 70% humidity. Registers temperature in Fahrenheit and Celsius. Fully adjustable one-step push button calibration. Instructions enclosed. Dimensions: 1.75 in. diameter

I have used the Xikar hygrometer for several months in various cigar humidors, and both the temperature and RH readings are extremely accurate (+/- few degrees or less) when compared against high-quality reference digital temperature and RH meters. The nicest feature is the simple calibration: let the unit sit in a sealed plastic bag with a small amount (15 mL) of moistened salt for 36 hours (many manuals specify 6-24 hours, but I have observed slow RH fluctuations of +/- 5 degrees during up to 24 hours - so I do 36 hours to be safe), and then push and hold the calibration button without opening the bag until the RH reading is a stable 75 F. Be careful not to accidently push the calibration button when handling the hygrometer (apart from calibration).

When I first received this hygrometer, I was convinced it was a piece of crap. The temperature and humidity readings were inconsistent and laughable. I tried to calibrate the unit numerous times before I finally gave up and forgot about it. I procrastinated long enough that sending it back was no longer an option. Finding the thing in the bottom of the junk drawer, I was ready to toss it but instead swapped out the batteries for fresh ones (it pays to buy those variety packs!). Lo and behold, the temperature reading was accurate and steady. After 48 hours in a bag with saturated salt, it read 75% RH. A day in the humidor gave a reading of 65%, matching the humidity beads.
The lesson learned is to check the batteries before tossing aside. Accuracy is lost with any battery weakness and this unit seems to be especially sensitive. That is a good thing...right?
The calibration feature truly puts the mind at ease. Don't bother with any calibration kits, google the procedure for simple instructions after buying this hygrometer.

Great gauge but...
Xikar either decided to cheap out and not include calibration instruction or their Chinese factory opted to cheap out and not include, either way, what good is a calibratable guage if you don't tell people how to calibrate it?
Here are the instructions copied from my gauge that had instructions with them.
"This unit can be calibrated using the salt test method. To calibrate, fill plastic soda cap with plain table salt. Add just enough water to make the salt wet, but not so much the the water stands on top of the salt. Place in a zip-loc type bag flat, on a flat surface with the hygrometer. Seal the bag closed and wait 4 hours. After 4 hours have passed push the green button and hold under the hygrometer resets itself to 75%. Once it has reset, remove from the bag. It is now calibrated and ready to use."

Piece of junk
Everything was working fine, but just for a few days. Now, the themometer has gone haywire. It was showing 72F and then another day, it showed 45F, and today it's showing -24F! Read more

Pretty good
Picked this up for my 2nd humidor. Seems to work OK, but I like my Western Caliber III better. If I'm in need of a 3rd hygrometer it will be the Caliber III.

2 out of 3 worked. i sent the bad one back but got another bad one in...
2 of the 3 I purchased work ok (+/-) 5 percent. I sent the bad one back for replacement ($5.20 mailing fee) and it was replaced with another bad one. Read more

good but need calibration
work good but i had to calibrate them out of the box. I did a boveda humidity calibration and found that they were about 3-4 degrees low each. Read more

dont waste youe money
Very inaccurate reading, humidity readings are off by +10 or more, not adjustable as advertised.. poor product..don't waste your money

This is a Hygrometer for CIGAR Humidors NOT reptile cages and...
This Hygrometer works just fine as long as its calibrated and used how its supposed to, and at an exellent price too. got one in my 50 and it has not let me down!

Not for a motorcycle.
I always liked the outside temperature guages in my cars so I started looking for one for my motorcycle as well. I thought a humidity guage would be nice also. Read more

Meh
We ended up finding out that the hygrometer only measure to 90% humidity, so its alright for the price but next time i will find a device more suitable.

Good and cheap
This is a must have upgrade to a desktop humidor that comes with those cheap plastic analog hygrometers. The old one I had still read 80% under a hair dryer! Read more
