My 3-year-old has been begging for a "real" tea set for Christmas, and since she has a major Madeline fixation this is the one I picked up.

It's a completely adorable doll-sized set of china cups and saucers, teapot, creamer, and itty-bitty forks, knives, and spoons...plus tablecloth and (I think) napkins...all with little Madeline drawings on the sides. For the price I think it's a good deal, especially given the packaging.

The best part is that the whole set comes in a sturdy little picnic basket, with little elastic bands to hold each piece in its own special place.

Of course if you get a small kid a china tea set something's bound to break eventually, but I figure the basket packaging minimizes the chance and maximizes the play since not only is there a safe place to keep it, but it's fun to pack it up and take it on a pretend picnic!

It IS china, and it's a tea set (not an encyclopedia), so I scored it lower on educational value and durability. But you want one anyway, don't you....hmmm...maybe for youself?

I highly recommend this tea set. It contains a ton of items for the price. Once they've outgrown the size of the tea set, the picnic basket can be used for a million more creative ideas!!!
It's definately a gift that will be used for many years to come...

My daughter is bonkers over this teaset! She has other sets that she plays with in her playroom but thought she'd like having this portable set for living room & back yard tea parties.

My daughter has just received this tea set as a birthday present from her aunt. She is only two but she loves this set. It is so precious. Yes its porcelain but it is thick. I have as much fun playing with it as she does. She enjoys the fact that she can carry it around because the basket has handles. This is a great toy and I hope that my daughter has it so that she can pass it on to her daughter, it's a timeless piece.

My five-year-old neice Katie is very taken with her tea set, a birthday gift. "Look Mom it has napkins and everything!" This gift was a hit.

My daughter is getting this for Christmas and hasn't seen in yet, but we know she'll love it. It's precious and I can see she'll have many many years of fun with this little set. Our only complaint was that we received a style that wasn't shown on Amazon. Two different styles were shown in the pictures, both of which we liked but we received yet another style. It's cute too, but we liked the other two better. Ours came with a flower on each cup and the plates with a monogrammed 'M' etc. Cute, but not what we really wanted. It would have been nice to have seen all the different styles and have been able to choose the one we liked best.
