Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

Genevieve came in to Madeline's life by saving it, so, reasons the Parisian schoolgirl, the brown mutt definitely deserves to win the local dog show. The fact that her pooch can juggle, multiply, and sing simultaneously is just icing on the cake. ("Some scratch. Some lick. But my dog does arithmetic," Madeline and her schoolmates croon.) A couple of entrants object to the unpedigreed mixed breed, the judges are called, and a subtle lesson in prejudice has begun. When Genevieve uses her swimming skills to save the other dogs, even their snooty owners have to agree that character is what counts. Narrator Christopher Plummer's delightfully low-key reading of Ludwig Bemelmans's rhymes gives this enchanting video series its own pedigree of the spirit. --Kimberly Heinrichs

3.0 out of 5 stars Madeline and her trusty dog Genevieve save the day, December 28, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Madeline: Dog Show [VHS] (VHS Tape)
We love the Madeline books and this is a solid take off. The 12 girls enter Geneivieve in the all Paris Dog show. Confusion ensues because Genevieve is a mut. Spunky Genevieve and Madeline save the day. Strong girl role models.

4.0 out of 5 stars Genevieve the wonderdog, February 5, 2002
This review is from: Madeline: Dog Show [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The resident dog of the old house in Paris is Genevieve. She can sing, dance, and an assortment of other amazing feats. Miss Clavel and the girls adore her, so it's obvious that she must be entered in the Paris dog show so they can prove she's the 'most wonderful dog in the world.' Unfortunately, the other contestants' owners don't think she should be entered because she's a 'mutt.' My daughter loves this as much as the other Madeline videos, but I gave it four stars because the music and story isn't as fun as "Madeline's Rescue" and "Madeline and the Bad Hat," which are my personal favorites.

2.0 out of 5 stars AGAIN?, March 5, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Madeline: Dog Show [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This show has been shown on playhouse disney several
times. I have learned to hate these episodes, even though I
love Madeline.
