MADELINE by Randy Weeks is a hidden gem. Much of the disc has a 60's feel to it with hints of alt country and swamp boogie. Nice upbeat guitar that gets my feet tapping every time I put the disc on. Standouts include "Can't let go" and "Get back to me". In my opinion, a real pop treat from a guy who deserves to be heard!

Randy's just one of the best songwriters around. His songs are so true, so emotional, so right on and so much better than everyone else's. The musicianship is outstanding throughout. I never get tired of this one and I listen to it a lot.

Hi, i just want to say that this is a great cd by former Lonesome Stranger Randy Weeks, if you like alt-country you will love this cd , it includes the song that Lucinda Williams made famous "Can't let go" and also one that is in Shallow Hal, "Countryside with you", all the songs are great.

What Lucinda Williams knows is that Randy Weeks writes some of the most catchy rocking country tunes around. "Can't Let Go" was one of my favorite tracks on her classic "Car Wheels On A Gravel Road" CD; and it was written by Randy Weeks.

Madeline opens with "Motor City," an addictive driving rocker, "It gets so cold in Michigan, you can hear your bones rattling; I'm gonna break out." Weeks follows with a hook-filled country pop track, "Baby You Got to Choose." His tenor brings Jimmie Dale Gilmore to mind, "I can't keep walking through these revolving doors; I only want to give you what you ask me for." The title track is a midtempo # with a sinister sound, "I'm gonna tear your dress; I'm gonna leave you with your hair a mess." "Long Ride Home" is a peppy toe tapper with Don Heffington's locomotive-like drums. "If I Cut You" is a sad midtempo track about regret, "You never seen how hard I try; you never looked is why." "Can't Let Go" has that great backbeat Lucinda nailed and is a classic track. Another classic track, infectiously catchy, is "Don't Step Away," "You & I could have a taste of something sweet." "Last DMV" is a slow tune, "There is no place in California I can't put up with for awhile; there is no one who can adore you like I do when you smile." "Countryside With You" is another classic track with Weeks' voice sounding like a deadpan Dylan, so very catchy it'll have you humming in no time, "Sparks are flashing up in my brain just like a broken live wire in a hurricane." "Gimme Back My Soul" has more catchy hooks, "The combo, they play the mambo; I got to listen to the bongos." The last track has a driving beat where the melody goes down sweet with Weeks' harmonica. Weeks the singer isn't totally distinctive, but the tunes he sings are so excellent that you can't help but keep this one in the changer. Enjoy!
