4.0 out of 5 stars our junior is the antichrist, June 8, 2006
This review is from: The Madness of George W. Bush: A Reflection of Our Collective Psychosis (Paperback)
paul levy has written a book that combines with what carl jung said before and makes a cogent response to the dark times in which we live. perhaps we only see our prophets in retrospect. i hope that people find this book. it gave me pause and helped me to see that the anger i have felt toward the barbarity of bushworld was missing something. we made bush like a collective golem. he grew like a malignancy from the darkness of our culture. he is the shadow we all have hidden, which had to come out some way. and now, what shall we do in order to integrate and evolve, as individuals, and as a species.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much more than just another "Bush-bashing" book..., June 1, 2006
This review is from: The Madness of George W. Bush: A Reflection of Our Collective Psychosis (Paperback)
In fact, this book is not even so much about politics perse, as it is about what Bush mirrors in our collective psychosis, and about taking individual responsibility by coming to terms with this fact, albeit in your own personal way. Mr. Levy draws heavily on the works of Carl Jung to make his case, which is particularly appropriate given the historical context in which Jung was writing -- during Hitler's rise to power in Germany.

This is a very facinating piece of writing that will undoubtedly challenge your thinking, regardless of your political views, and could make a real difference if it is as widely read as it deserves to be. Highly recommended for curious minds and adventurous souls seeking to help create a better world.

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly transformational book..., July 9, 2006
By
This review is from: The Madness of George W. Bush: A Reflection of Our Collective Psychosis (Paperback)
This book by Paul Levy is groundbreaking because it articulates what is happening on the world stage from a psycho-spiritual point of view and shows how its all a part of the collective dream that we are all dreaming up together. Paul's book incorporates many different perspectives including Jungian, Buddhist, Quantum Physics and Gnostic Christian thought into his own unique description of the collective psychosis that is playing itself out in our world. He illuminates ways in which we can process it and become conscious of it so as to dream a more positive and healthy world into existence. A unique aspect of Paul's approach is that he not only lays out a compelling description of the problem we are facing in this world at this critical point in history but he also presents a higher level understanding of the purpose and opportunity hidden within it. When you finish reading the book you are left feeling empowered and more awake to what's happening in this world and with a clear idea of how one individual can make a difference as part of the interconnected whole. A MUST READ!

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST READ BOOK !, June 2, 2006
By
This review is from: The Madness of George W. Bush: A Reflection of Our Collective Psychosis (Paperback)
Paul Levy has given us a brilliant look into cutting edge psychology in this new book. Masterfully woven with the words of Karl Jung, Levy gives answers concerning not only Bush, but the current nature of this country's collective consciousness. As a mental health professional, I consider this work to be a breath of fresh air in its philosophy, delivery, and insight into a nation and ourselves. This is a call to consciousness, a call to WAKE UP AMERICA ! BUY THIS BOOK !

5.0 out of 5 stars "IN A DEMOCRACY YOU GET THE KIND OF LEADER YOU DESERVE", May 2, 2007
This review is from: The Madness of George W. Bush: A Reflection of Our Collective Psychosis (Paperback)
Bush and his administration has been doing precisely what I would expect them to do. This is why I didn't vote for him TWICE. The riddle I have been chewing on for these years is that a bunch of people DID VOTE FOR HIM TWICE!

WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING!!!?

Paul Levy in this book explores this riddle as the collective psychosis that it is. In a country founded on the system "...of, for, and by the people" there are risks. These risks are well worth taking as there has not emerged a better political system. For this brilliant system of democracy to work it DOES require an awareness of the complexities of the individual and collective nature of our fellow citizens. This book beautifully holds a mirror up to the collective soul of America and in essence says, "We have met the disease, and it is us".

The first step to curing a disease is to know the disease. This book provides the microscope to view the germ and possibly the needed vaccine.

My only regret is with the COVER the publisher chose to give this book. The sophistication and intelligence of this book deserves better.

5.0 out of 5 stars ***** Securing Homeland Security *****, June 7, 2006
This review is from: The Madness of George W. Bush: A Reflection of Our Collective Psychosis (Paperback)
Dateline Washington, D.C. --- Paul Levy has written a book that is so deeply-disturbing because it is true beyond a doubt anymore, that I shutter at the implications for mankind now -- not just the formerly United States of America. Indeed with over half of our population deeply asleep and under the spell of divide and conquer political vote-creating machines, one has to conclude as did Martin Luther King, "One who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as the one who perpetrates it." For if the elected Commander-in-Chief of our US Department of Defense could not pass a mental health exam by Carl Gustav Jung, MD, then neither could the majority of us. Equally, that alone speaks volumes as to our own un-fitness for duty and the perils we face in the future as a nation. What really hits home for me is this author is a-political, thus the message has nothing whatsoever to do with whether I am a card-carrying Republican -- or not -- but rather if we can think "independently" of the mass-media? That is the supreme question that this extremely well-written critique of our current condition in the country brings to our attention. Indeed, a leader that employs gun-boat diplomacy with a nuclear-tipped pen in the Middle East, may very well make the Civil War in Iraq seem as benign as a Vice-Presidential "turkey shoot" in Texas by comparison. Not to fear, and let me be clear: The burden rests upon our shoulders -- "we the people" -- now that we have this acute diagnosis of "malignant egophrenia (ME)" placed before us. But are we brave enough to swallow this "bitter" pill of truth and get the word out to the public-at-large: "Our emperor has no clothes on, and is running loose in the world-at-large as its self-proclaimed savior from the "axis-of-evil." In the process, however, he is alienating every foreign leader fom Canada to Mexico, Russia to China that could be brought to our side as partners in crime fighting. So how long will the world weep should they ALL decide to "gang together" to destroy the militant strangle-hold placed upon them by the USA? In a nutshell, we don't need a West Wing "war-nut" steering us towards disaster; we need a peacemaker at the helm of our Ship of State. Buy this book by the "bush-el" load and send it to everyone in congress as well as family and friends. It's not too late my fellow Americans, we can save our country from M.E. madness on November 7th, 2006, if we awake within this dream that we ourselves have collectively co-created and turned into an "us versus them" bipolar political nightmare! WAKE-UP AMERICA, we are not in "Texas" anymore: "Oh, I am off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of OZ ...."

Actually, this is not radically new if you have studied Jung. However, within the last 30 years, quantum theory and the proof of a non-local physical universe certainly adds a new twist to Jung's writings.

As stated in the foreward, this is not a Bush-bashing book, it simply uses Bush and his administration to describe the 'shared psychosis' that permeates humankind, more or less it seems since the beginning of time. Mr. Levy's writing will jump right off the page and directly into your soul if you have ever studied quantum physics. For me, the jump from classical to quantum physics was fairly easy 25 years ago. However, until I read 'Madness' I had never applied the concept of non-local forces to consciousness itself, or as it were collective consicousness.

This book is well written, and is very understandable regardless of the reader's background. It is essentially a collection of articles, and although there is some repetition throughout chapters, this actually helps enforce some of the key points in regards to collective psychosis. Also, the sections and chapters are well labeled, so that readers can easily choose topics of interest.

I would recommend the book to anyone who has every studied Jung (or who wants to). Also, for any fans of the writings of Ken Wilbur and similar authors seeking to determine the intersection between science and religion, this is a must read.

This review is from: The Madness of George W. Bush: A Reflection of Our Collective Psychosis (Paperback)
From my years of personal experience, I know Paul Levy has studied, taught, written, and spoken about living in the dream and how to awaken spiritually. He is a living testimony of what he believes and writes about. Paul and his book represent an authentic view of how we can overcome the 'shadow of evil' that permeates our culture. -John Poling, Portland, OR
