1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Official Madonna Calendar In Years, January 6, 2010
By
This review is from: Madonna 2010 Wall Calendar (Calendar)
As a huge Madonna fan, it's become a tradition to buy the official Madonna calendar each year. Usually these calendars feature photos either from the latest album era, or the most popular photo shoot, or a mix of both. In 2009, there was a change though; to celebrate all of her years in the business, the calendar featured photos of each album era's look or 'reivention'. This year though, it seems as if there was little thought, time or effort put into this calendar. The theme for 2010? Her greatest live concert moments. Really, these photos are not (as a whole) great. It's hard to believe that with all of her concerts, these photos were the absolute best the powers-that-be could come up with.

The Bad: There photos from 'The Virgin Tour' era are not at all flattering; they feature a sweaty Madonna and the photos are mostly out of focus. The 'Who's That Girl?' era photos aren't much better. The quality slightly improves for 'The Girlie Show' but then dips again for the 'Drowned World Tour' since it features the upside down, hand outreaching photo that is often used for the publicity of that particular tour. The best photo is September's 'Reivention Tour' shot (besides the stunning shot from the 'Sticky & Sweet' tour's "Like A Prayer" section that's wasted on the 2009 4-month calendar at the beginning). Most of these others photos simply look amateurish and considering this is supposedly the 'official' Madonna calendar ... outright embarrassing. To top things off, this is not a functional calendar. Instead of offering space to write things, the days and dates are simply run across the bottom of each page. In the space that should have been given to the dates and months (considering this IS a calendar) is instead given to listing out the tour stops in a hideous font (as if knowing where the tour went here in 2010 is helpful or critical information). Seriously, what's the point of this calendar?

I love Madonna, but I really despise this calendar. Perhaps since she's in between labels, the calendar and images were in limbo and we're left with a sub-par product instead of the great calendars that usually are released for her. I'd rather have seen outtakes or photos taken from her various photo shoots and magazine articles over the years than this atrocious mess. Skip on this calendar; it's not worth the purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Esther-fest, January 8, 2010
This review is from: Madonna 2010 Wall Calendar (Calendar)
A dear friend gave me this calendar as a New Year's present and I just hung it up the other day and was pleasantly surprised. BTW take a look at the pic I posted of the back cover which includes a pic of each of the calendar pages, I hope you like it. OK the cover is a touch vulgar, but if you like Madonna you probably aren't easily offended and heaven knows the girl's done way more obscene things for attention. The rest of the calendar includes both contemporary and classic pictures of Madonna from all of her concerts, starting with her first tour, The Virgin Tour in 1985. Also included are the cities that each of the tours were in as well as the tour logos. The pictures look more like mini posters than calendar pages because there isn't much in terms of a calendar (just numbers and the month, but if you're a longtime Madonna calendar collector you'll know that this is common). All of the pictures are all so colorful and vibrant. I am not overly crazy about the newer pictures, but that's just a personal preference. My very favorite picture is the one of Madonna with the mask from The Girlie Show. At six ninety-nine this is a great price and if you have any interest in Madonna I say get it. As far as the 2010 calendar is concerned, before anyone judges Madonna's career choices remember that with only a few exceptions, Madonna has put out an official calendar every year since 1986 which is longer than any other celebrity. It's also prudent to mention that whether or not you like her or agree with Madonna's lifestyle we have to remember that there isn't another entertainer who has ever accomplished what she has.

4.0 out of 5 stars What you see it is NOT what you get!, November 19, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Madonna 2010 Wall Calendar (Calendar)
I bought this calendar thinking that it was different from the other one available and I ended up with the same calendar. The cover image showing here it is NOT the actual cover. It is the same as the one with the purple and black cover; the contents are also the same, the only difference is the size.
