Madonna Grimes Hip Hop Choreography,

I agree totally with JJ's 12/12/2009 review. I love Madona Grimes, she has real talent, fluidity, can really feel the music & teaches in a patient, friendly, fun manner. This isn't a workout, this is a choreography routine. She does a dance-style warm-up with a couple of lunges, hamstring stretch, etc w/a #1 hit real song (won't say it in case license rights) that you will be doing the choreography to later. She teaches in 1/4-1/2 time W/O music, patiently that even non-dancers can follow easily w/o getting mixed up or feeling left behind. Once you have a few moves done, she will have the music play while you go a sudden full speed a few times. It's a bit jarring to go so slow, then very quick like that, it would have been great if she increased the speed as you do the same moves over before turning on the music w/full tempo. Also, as JJ said, one must have music going on at all times to keep from getting distracted especially for non-dancers. For those who want to learn some choreography hip hop w/touch of krump almost, get this. For those looking for a workout, try her other dvds, she has many. To see Madonna's style, look on youtube to see clips of her other dvds, this one I haven't found which just has Madonna alone (olive cargo pants) with just a wood floor & very dark room so you can't see anything else beyond her/her floor area (brightly lit, no problem seeing her anywhere she goes/no shadows).

When I opened this and watched it for the first time, it was not what I expected. The moves are definitely street/urban and look good when done on a music video. But doing this as a part of an exercise routine, not as exciting. Also not as good for breaking a sweat.

Not too good for a workout.,
This review is from: Madonna Grimes Groove to the Moves (DVD)
First of all, I LOVE MaDonna Grimes. Her personality is fun, and she is a fabulous choreographer. However, this DVD should not be called a workout. It's more about learning to street dance. There are seven 8-counts in the routine, and MaDonna teaches them in a way that is not cardio. She slows it WAY down to teach it to you, then gradually speeds it up. Meanwhile, there is NO music going in the background. Eventually she turns on music and you do this 8-count really fast for about 3-4 minutes which does elevate the heart rate before she slows it WAY down again to teach you the next 8-count. MaDonna is friendly and the choreography is really 90's street. I love the choreography and MaDonna, I just do not feel that this is a sufficient workout.
