5.0 out of 5 stars Madonna: The Virgin Tour
The Virgin Tour was Madonna's first tour. Not as elaborate as the Who's That Girl?, Blonde Ambition, or The Girlie Show tours were, Virgin tour shows Madonna being completely adorable. She's fun, spunky, and a volumptious. I don't think she was chubby, since weighing 120 pounds is healthy. She had so much life and energy (she never lost either). The opening which is...

The opening which is "Dress You Up" works spectacularily. Though we know she's singing about a lover, Madonna dresses up the audience in her show. After that, she sang such songs as "Into The Groove," "Holiday," "Crazy For You," "Like A Virgin," "Material Girl," and a few others. She was really cute in her infamous wedding singing "Like A Virgin." Yep, she was wearing her full "Boy Toy" apparell. The show closed with "Material Girl," her most recent hit at the time. She performed the song in her Marilyn Monroe costume. She threw money out into the audience, and shouted "I don't need money! I need love!"

A fun concert to watch. Also has interview footage. It's a little short though. Too bad it's only 50 minutes long. We're having so much fun, and don't want to stop!

Overall Grade: A+ (10+++)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great but no DVD!, July 30, 2005
This review is from: Madonna Live-The Virgin Tour (1985) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Excellent show but really, all of her shows should be on dvd. Where is blonde ambition? Apparently it's (blonde ambition) available in Germany, I checked e-bay,but their technology is different than ours so I'm not going to risk it. Why are all the other countries being taken care of but not her own? I'm getting disgusted with waiting for Blonde Ambition. Production teams need to really push for this virgin tour and Blonde Ambition to be on dvd. Then my collection will be complete. Hurry it up Madonna!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic Madonna Concert!, November 26, 2002
This review is from: Madonna Live-The Virgin Tour (1985) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Of all the Madonna concert videos I've seen (except for the recent one - the "The World Tour" - I never saw this one), this one is my favorite concert for several reasons. I was a teenager in the 1980s so I remember Madonna being in the spotlight and on MTV all the time back then, so seeing this concert on video brought me back memories of those MTV music videos of "Like a Virgin" and "Material Girl". Those 1980s fashions and neon clothes or items made me smile in remembrance. Even the Madonna wannabees as the fans in the concert brought me back memories of some of the girls in my high school by the way they dressed as "Susan". Madonna did a good job on her very first concert (except she almost tripped close to the end and she sang off-key in a couple of places) and it was fun to watch her dancing energetically along with the Beastie Boys! :) She seemed to really enjoy herself and she was being herself in this concert. Madonna wasn't like this anymore (this video is clean compared to her later concerts), so this is why this concert is a keepsake for anyone who remembers Madonna in the 1980s or who misses the 1980s.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE !, January 8, 2000
By
This review is from: Madonna Live-The Virgin Tour (1985) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Well, where do you start reviewing such an awesome show? This is a glimpse back into the Glorious 80's past of Madonna when she made stunning, well-crafted melodic power pop! This provides ample insight into what made Madonna famous in the first place ! The music is top-notch, the backing musicians are first-class. And Madonna herself, although slightly unused to the stage, performs with an youthful energy hardly seen since. For all Madonna fans, this is mandatory viewing, it really is a shame she rarely performs these songs anymore! Visually and musically, a "Perfect 10!"

5.0 out of 5 stars Madonna's first tour, April 8, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Madonna Live-The Virgin Tour (1985) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Remember those days? You sometimes mistook her for Cyndi, and you weren't sure if it was her real name or if she was from another country. The days when hearing the word "virgin" on the radio made you blush, and you hoped that when she said "feels so good inside" she was using a metaphor for the love she felt inside her heart. I long for a return to the times when this was scandalous. Madonna was only a peripheral icon in my life during this phase of her career. I missed her most endearing era. By the time I found this video she had already gone platinum and was telling her dad to get off his soapbox. Thankfully, the Madonna of 1984-85 is immortalized on this video.

Chubby, out-of-tune, raccoon eyes, wanting to dance, and tacky tacky tacky, this is the Madonna of the Virgin Tour. The legion of wannabes filling the stadium and trying desperately to look like Susan. Wasn't she fun! Degraded at the time, brushed off as the flash-in-the-pan "McDonna" who slept her way to the top ("over a billion served") and would soon disappear, she is still here 20 years later and is the inspiration for Britney, Jennifer, Christina, and even Mohammed Ali and Gloria Steinem have become fans.

This concert is much like all Madonna concerts: great dancing, great effects, great spectacle, if-y singing. All songs on this video are from her first two albums MADONNA and LIKE A VIRGIN. Unfortunately, the song "Burning Up" was edited out of this video. I hope they do a re-issue at some point with that number included.

This video shows madonna at her best. Excellent film footage of the concert. It makes the current young female pop artist pale in comparison. If you are a madonna fan young or old you will enjoy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyable, May 3, 2002

If you're into 80's music of Madonna, You should check this one. Not only a footage of her first-ever world tour, it's a really great concert video also. Perfect for anyone who misses the 80's and early Madonna who is singing and dancing constantly.

Another great thing about this one is you can get live performances of some classics like 'Crazy for you' and 'Over and over', which is not found on any of her later concert tour, and how about hearing a version of 'Like a virgin' featuring Michael Jackson's 'Billie Jean'? It's really enjoyable video.

Get it. I bet it will not be available in DVD format anytime soon. Think about 87's footage 'Ciao Italia'. It's on DVD already. So don't hesitate! It's worth watching.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Thoughts of The Virgin Tour By lizzie Hallett, December 27, 2001

This review is from: Madonna Live-The Virgin Tour (1985) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The Virgin Tour was Madonna's first Tour. And its great it shows Madonna the way she was before all the big houses and when she was young, vibrant and just wanted to prove herself. There are 11 songs in all, starting with Dress you up and finishing with the all great Material Girl. This video is great if you like to dance as the moves are quite straight forward. I was upset becaause the video only lasted 50 minutes and it did leave you feeling like was that all.
