The final Ingredient,
This review is from: Maduro (Audio CD)
Ben Kenney is one of the most talented and versatile musicians that i have seen playing live. By listening to the album you would think that anybody can sound good in a studio. The fact is that the guy sounds exactly as the record when he plays live. The energy and the passion that he puts out there is astonishing. I'm a big fan of Incubus from the begining, and when Dirk Lance left incubus i thought that nobody could fill in his shoes. But Ben came in and fitted like a glove.Their sound evolved making them a more mature band. Alot of that sound you can hear in Ben Kenney's Maduro.

I bought the Album a few weeks ago and I can't stop playing it. It feels like Ben is opening the door and letting you glimpse into his own life, it feels that way. It feels like he is sharing all this with you and his sound is really something I haven't heard before. He has an great voice to back his half a dozen instrumental talents...

Decent, but the best part is that it's all Ben.,

I went for this album because at one time, I really liked incubus and the roots, both of which Ben Kenney has been a member of. I'm not saying this record sucks by any means, it just seems that the appeal lies less in the musical content and more in the fact that it's just one guy in a house with pro tools. Most of the songs are great, especially within their alterna-rock genre, but I found myself expecting something slightly more by the time each track would pass. There's something missing in the production, not necessarily the quality but rather the conceptual and emotional content. Hate to be hard on this cause I like Ben Kenney in incubus, I was just a little let down and couldn't think of the album as anything other than an Incubus collector's album.
