5 stars for the game
4 stars for the product storywise, it's awesome! the cut scenes are dramatic and lots of mafia movies got nothin on this game. control-wise, i felt it was slightly awkward because the camera felt like it was at an odd angle at times but got used to it soon enough. the modeling & animation is superb but the lip sync isn't very impressive on minor characters. they did a good job on the main character though (which is to be expected). one bad thing about the game is that there is a bug that impedes your process towards the end. i had to redo an entire chapter. it wasn't too horrible but i did lose a few hours of progress that i had to repeat. read below if you want to know how to avoid this *SPOILER ALERT* [[there will be a part of the game where you are asked to either sell cars to mike bruski or steal from stores. choose the cars because stealing from stores activates the bug]] *END OF SPOILER* another complaint is that this game is too short. I passed it in three days the first time. I didn't get my fill so I re-passed it on hard mode, which takes slightly longer. it is fairly easy to get all the achievements for this game. I got them all in two tries. I suggest passing it casually the first time and on a second go, getting all the achievements you missed the first time. I intend to get the DLC eventually so that I can further enjoy more mafia ----------- about the extras that come with the collector's edition: i was honestly disappointed when the package arrived. i thought amazon sent me the regular edition by mistake because i didn't understand why the box was so small. be advised that the thickness is twice that of a regular game. firstly, THE BOOK: it is the same size and thickness as a normal game/dvd case with the spine running width-wise. i'm a sucker for art books and movie/game renders & photos. you can't really appreciate the artwork of the game when it's so small. the book is lovely but i wish i would have known it was going to be so small. secondly, THE MAP: i can't tell the difference between poster paper and this so-called tear resistant paper. i'm pretty sure i can tear this easily enough, but it is quite large, which is nice. to package it efficiently it came folded up inside the game case. it would have been cool if it was rolled up or something because i'm not too keen that it has creases in it. but, whatever thirdly, THE CD: AMAZING! before i even played the game, i listened to and loved the music. it's wonderful. it is a spectacular addition to this edition fourthly, THE DLC: i LOVED the sports car. it is easily the fastest car in the game. and a great thing about mafia ii is that you can customize your ride. i added pricy rims and a sports-tuned engine to make this baby go even faster. along with the sports car, you get a 4-seat luxury car with a beautiful design. the DLC is exclusive through this edition and also comes with some clothes for Vito lastly, THE STEELCASE: chic. it adds a nice final touch to this edition and is appropriate for the mafia theme of the game. ----------- overall, this was a great buy. i got it on sale so it was cheaper than the regular edition. i don't regret buying it at all. beat it twice and the ending still left me stunned the 2nd time around

So I already had this game I just bought the collectors edition because it come with the made man pack. So first off this is one of my favorite games. It has great quality and the gameplay/missions are great. It also has probably the best music for driving around, it has real songs! This is also the only mafia game placed in the 40's that I have played and I can tell you this I will be playing it for a long long time. Everything is perfect except that the Made Man Pack is not on the Xbox/PS3 marketplace.

I purchase this game after playing the demo which appear to me that it is based on great game. The story line is great told and the mission and physics are great. You will have fun playing it. When we came to the life of playing, I will say it is a week if you play on difficult level. I took 2 days on easy and I will try again on harder levels. Lacking of free roam and side missions killed the game after finishing the story and collecting the hidden photos (personally I didn't care about the hidden photos).
The Collector Edition have great materials. The book well made, OSTs are great, and codes which you will add a great vehicles and outfits. Hoping the promised DLC will return the fun with longer play time :)

It's already been said, "This ain't no Grand Theft Auto". Over all, I'd give this game a C+. The graphics are pretty decent and it will give you 20+ hours of entertainment.
That being said, the game is pretty much just a movie where you get to do the dirty work of the main character Vito Scalata. The only choices this game gives you are what car the main character drives and how the main character dresses. It's mildly entertaining, but the ending came after about 24 hours of game play and it was about as anticlimactic as it possibly could be. Not to mention down right disappointing. I might not have hated the ending so bad if I could have been involved in some of the decisions that the character made. But all you do is fight between one cut scene and the next. None of the choices you make have ANY influence on the plot line and the plot ends with a major disappointment and no way to continue the plot in order to rectify the disappoinment. If you can play this game for free, it's probably worth the money, but if you're paying for it, it's probably going to be a real let down for your money.

OK, the package came, but there was a small yet huge bump on the steel case so I gave to a person in my family and I will buy another collectors edition and this time I hope there won't be a friggin bump because I already own the platinum hits version and I need another collectors edition and this was a incredible product besides the bump......

I purchased this as a birthday present for my dad and he really enjoyed the game. He beat it in about 3 days because he was addicted to it. From what I saw, the graphics are very nice and the game play reminded me of Saint's Row. The Collector's Edition was a very good buy since it was only 5 dollars more than the regular edition and I thought the map was a really good idea.

The game is really fun for a while. I personally made it through the game twice before I had gotten bored with the game. It took me roughly 12 hours to complete it the first time, and a slightly shorter time the second. It seems that there is really no difference between the Normal and Hard difficulties as far as enemies go. It appears that the only difference is that you don't see them on the radar. The driving isn't too tough, but if you're looking for a greater challenge, there is an option to turn on a driving "simulation" so it is tougher to drive in snow and rain. The creators did a good job with the setting, especially in the Winter months of the game. The story is great, in my opinion, and so is the musical score. The game seems like a great improvement over the first Mafia. Overall, I think that if you like games of this sort, you'll like Mafia 2 for at least a little while. I recommend a rental if you aren't too sure about the game, though. I don't get much enjoyment from it anymore.

This game has it all, if you like Goodfella's, Casino, well you get my point. This is one AWSOME game, from the story line, to the game play, I would suggest anyone who loves anything Mafia should get this game! The Collectors Edition is great, it has alot of add on content, but so does the standard version. Well run out and get it , you will love it!!!

Best Mobster Game Ever,

This is quite possible the greatest mobster game I have ever played, and I have played alot. It gives you the feel of taking an active part in an old mobster movie. The Godfather series was o'kay, but this game is incredible. Customizable rides, great clothing, and authintic dialogue. The game is lenghty enough to keep you envolved and just difficult enough to make you think before you randomly shoot. My only issue with the game was that the main story doesn't have a true "free-roam" mode.

If they made this game just to be a story that has a free roam. Then they made the best game out there. If you are buying this just for free roam, you will have truble. There is no saving the game other then sleeping which takes you to the next chapter, after you compleated the first. So if they add a save mode to play without story then.. it would be a good free roam as well. This story does make you love it and want more.
