5.0 out of 5 stars Strong Magnets but brittle (beware)
You can have weak (magnetically) and durable magnets or strong and brittle magnets. These are the latter of the two. To get an idea of how strong these magnets are, I was doing a little test with them. I put one of these small magnets (only half inch in diameter) on the table and held another one vertically above it. I kept lowering the magnet until it was about 3"...

3.0 out of 5 stars Brittle...
I bought these magnets for my daughter's science project and 3 or 4 split in half as she was separating them. They are very strong magnets and are fine once you have them in place.

You can have weak (magnetically) and durable magnets or strong and brittle magnets. These are the latter of the two. To get an idea of how strong these magnets are, I was doing a little test with them. I put one of these small magnets (only half inch in diameter) on the table and held another one vertically above it. I kept lowering the magnet until it was about 3" above the one on the table when it jumped of the table and smashed into the upper one. After doing this twice, both magnets split in half from the stress. To compensate for their brittleness, you can coat the magnets in 2 part epoxy resin without losing much magnetism. Overall great magnets!

These magnets are much stronger than I thought they would be. Really nice. I like the countersunk feature which allows one to screw this magnet into a flat surface and maintain its flatness. I plan on using them to create a jig for setting joiner knives.

I bought these to attach a steel-housed shop light to the underside of a steel shelf without having to drill holes or attach screws.

These magnets are so powerful that when you attach them, you have to slide them around to get them off. Needless to say, they do a terrific job for which I purchased them, and can be removed or shifted as my needs change.

No doubt there is a lot of other "cool" things these can do for you. Keep them away from your computer, though.

Couldn't find a better deal on ring magnets anywhere, what i needed was a magnet with a countersunk hole, for fireplace screen "latch", and you can't drill or machine magnets. No such configuration available at hardware stores. Not positive how they'll hold up to heat, but i haven't heard from customer so i hope they haven't failed. They're brittle, so brittle that if you tighten the screw too much they'll snap. That's not a negative, it's just a warning that that's how magnets are. I've since bought discs as well, to epoxy onto metal hooks and to use on metal art bottle openers i make. very strong, very well packed.
Keep away from little kids, strong enough to pinch, and dangerous to swallow more than one!

I tried epoxy and read about metal cups to hold magnets like these but ... there should be a note on all of the other magnets that for many purposes these with the groove to screw them in place are much better. They take #5 wood screws which can be bought at Ace for about 10 cents apiece. I'm re-ordering now.

I bought these to put on the ends of fishing poles for my grandchildren. They fish around the house picking up metal object. Aden threw it on the floor and the magnet broke into several pieces. I thought it would be harder material than that. Very strong magnets. Have to slide them off the refrigerator to get them off. Must be very careful children don't swallow them.

If you are looking, just buy them. You won't believe how many ways you can use them. I am going to buy more. These are strong, so strong, they are difficult to pry away from each other, but oh so useful.

I needed something to hold my bedroom doors in the open position. Magnetic door stops were (in my opinion) too expensive. I purchased these and attached them to the bottom edge of the doors and removed the rubber stopper from the spring type door stops. These were plenty strong enough to hold the doors open. These eliminated the need for those pesky wedge type door stops.

These magnets are really, really strong. They are also quite small and hard to separate from each other.
