2.0 out of 5 stars It is not what i expected
What didn't make me feel comfortable about this book is the Judy text about her own life, this is full of resentment and pain. I think there is space in literature for that type of history, but not in a book that is meant to be for people's enlightenment. I believe that in order to get nice things in life, you don't need to repeat/read painful histories over and over...

5.0 out of 5 stars Profound and thought provoking, July 30, 2006
This review is from: The Magdalen Manuscript: The Alchemies of Horus and the Sex Magic of Isis (Paperback)
I highly recommend reading and contemplating the content in this book. I find that weeks after having finished it, that I am continuing to have insights. Although the principal subject matter is the alchemical relationshop between Jesus and Mary Magdalene, that more universal themes about sacred relationship and the divine feminine predominate thoughout. In some regards I felt like I was reading 3 books here, with the last, affecting me most. The first section, after a descriptive prologue, contains the supposed channeling of Mary Magdalene to Judi Sion through Tom Kenyon. These two people co-authored the book. I could not put this manuscript down. I have some knowledge of alchemy, but Tom Kenyon described it in a way that I had never grasped before. He described the connection to Isis in terms and examples that were understandable but not overwhelming. It's up to the reader as to whether the channeling resonates with them. I believe that the authors are sincere and there is no attempt to sway anyone to their way of thinking. The final section of the book was written by Judi Sion. It was worth waiting for. It was autobiographical in nature and showed how the phenonmenon of this channeling and her struggles throughout her life brought about her awakening. Her openess will speak to many. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars sacred relationship a path to enlightenment, September 20, 2005
The Magdalen Manuscript includes a short sixty page transcription of a channeled communication from an energy being identifying herself as Mary Magdalen. She claims to have been the wife and lover of Jesus. Whether this is true or not, the pages contain some interesting and useful information about the historical Jesus, but more importantly in my opinion, she describes ancient Egyptian practices of alchemy and sacred sexuality for transforming consciousness, opening the door to experience enlightenment.

The remainder of this 320 page book presents details of the principles and practices of Egyptian Alchemy and compares this with three other ancient alchemical systems: Tantric Yoga, Taoism, and Tibetan Buddhist Tantra. Kenyon's analysis includes description of a number of specific techniques for awakening the higher consciousness.

There is an excellent short discussion of what Kenyon refers to as "sacred relationship." This is the only book I have found which specifically recognizes relationship not only as a spiritual practice, but also as a system of alchemy leading ultimately through to enlightenment.

This topic is something that my partner Pala Copeland and I have explored in our first book Soul Sex: Tantra for Two and go more deeply into with our forthcoming book tentatively titled Relationship Recipe: Two Lives, One Love, Four Freedoms to be published by Llewllyn in January 2007.

This review is from: The Magdalen Manuscript: The Alchemies of Horus and the Sex Magic of Isis (Paperback)
I love this book, Judy and Tom produced a wonderful book. Tom is definitely very knowledgeable and is able to explain estoeric material in a concise and relevant manner. Judi's story telling was lucid and easy to read. Her story was a page turner, I read it in two nights, I couldn't put this book down. I was so involved with her story and the magnitude of their mission in sharing this material, I am eternally grateful. I have read many other books on the subject of Jeshua and Mary Magdelen, none compare to this. I believe anyone interested in this subject will thoroughly enjoy it.

I could not put the book down. The information on the Alchemical relationship between Jeshua and Mary Magdelen is a must read. I loved Judi's story as well it is a profound journey and inspires women all over the world to tell their own story. I have found Tom to be an incredible and authentic channel. I have followed his work for many years now and highly recommend his work.

What didn't make me feel comfortable about this book is the Judy text about her own life, this is full of resentment and pain. I think there is space in literature for that type of history, but not in a book that is meant to be for people's enlightenment. I believe that in order to get nice things in life, you don't need to repeat/read painful histories over and over again. It doesn't help woman empowerment, when they feel themselves like the victims.

I am a woman and I don't think the idea is wrong about having a partner in the esoteric practices. I just think that focusing too much in a relationship in order to look for your spiritual goals is a bit dangerous. Woman need to feel strong inside themselves first of all, then whatever comes on a loving relationship is a plus and consequence.

1.0 out of 5 stars TITLE AND DESCRIPTION OF BOOK ARE MISLEADING., February 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I agree with the review from L. Helw. Furthermore, the Mary Magdalen (as they spell her name in this book)that comes through Tom Kenyon does not come through as warm or caring or loving, and much less as interested in helping humanity during her lifetime or now. In my view she comes across as distant, uncaring, self-indulgent, and angry at the Church for covering up the facts. I was stunned when I read that she was not touched by the mission that Yeshua was carrying out on this earth. She is just interested in their love story. However, the so-called love story is totally devoid of love, in my view.

This material is in sharp contrast to the Mary Magdalene that I have read about in books such as Anna the Grandmother of Jesus, and other channeled material (google "Into the Heart"). In such works the love touched my heart deeply since the material is infused with love and concern for humanity.

Unlike any channeled material I have read, the channeling in this book came about by Tom Kenyon agreeing to call on Mary Magdalene at the request of his girlfriend (the 2nd author). The so-called channeled material in this book is actually very short. The authors spread it out by using wide margins. The so-called secrets are not secrets at all if you have some knowledge of Tantric/Sacred sexual practices. The rest and the bulk of the book is about Tom Kenyon's knowledge of alchemy followed by a woman's story. I was so disappointed with the "channeled" material, including the question and answer session in the back of the book and the section in which Mary M is asked to clarify some technique, that I didn't bother to read the rest of the book. After all, the title should reflect what the bulk of the book is about. VERY DISAPPOINTED

I found this book to be very intereting and revealing; it included some information about the chakras and other things that I hadn't known and some new ideas and information that have evidently been lost through the centuries.
