GOOD NEWS, November 3, 2003
This review is from: Magdalen's Way: A Journey with Mary of Magdala, Bride of Christ and Keeper of the Way (Paperback)
Dear Arlene, I finished your book on Mary of Magdala. This is a beautifully written, wise, important piece of work. You write of the depth and quality of Mary and Jesus' connection. All prior messages I got from the Bible were that truly good and holy people lived celibate, singular lives. Your story brings to light the importance and power of relationships between men and women. Jesus, whose life and words people still study and are guided by, did not live alone without a partner. This is GOOD news. I have worked with women who have been raped. They described it to me as a wound that went right to their soul. How shattering for you to experience this in the way that you did. Thank you for having the courage to write of this. I believe that this, too, is an important piece of information to come to light. In your story both the masculine (Jesus) and his counterpart, the feminine (Mary) were physically and psychologically brutalized and humiliated by humanity. And they both went forward, past the experience, in love. Mary was a pregnant widow at her most vulnerable. The story of how she moved beyond that is powerful. Being a widow myself with two young children who experienced the horror of seeing her husband hanging dead, I felt a connection to Mary's story. It has been a source of strength for me to see how she moved forward with faith, hope and charity. I also feel that her background as a priestess in the temple is important. Many people of her time viewed her as a prostitute. Historically, she was literally written off. I thing she personifies the feminine - soft, open, and receptive. Again, that which is not understood is scorned. I could go on and on. I loved how she interfaced with other spiritual belief systems. This is a model that should be followed today. And, is there a connection between Sharon's children and a legendary just ruler like King Arthur? And . . . It is time that Mary's story be told. Thank you for allowing her to tell this through you. And, thank you to her for finally sharing her story. Claudia Weber

An Evolving Tapestry, March 27, 2004
This review is from: Magdalen's Way: A Journey with Mary of Magdala, Bride of Christ and Keeper of the Way (Paperback)
An Evolving Tapestry Although Magdalen's Way is intriguing fiction, this inspiring tale resonates wisdom for a new age. Not exclusive to women, its feminine voice has a deep impact that can profoundly change and empower any reader seeking growth and enlightenment. The very source of Dr. Colver's book - a result of dream sequences over a period of several years - is in itself receptive and "feminine." Food for the soul, it provides nourishing insight into the "woman's way" with sensitivity, strength, intelligence. The Good News is that Magdalen's Way IS the New Way, the Now Way, the unfolding of the sacred Feminine. Unlike the razor's edge of the patriarchal path, her Way is always in process, ever evolving ("as all things must"). At the end of her life as she passes on her Gospel to her daughter, she instructs, " I have written down the stories of Jesus and the Way so that they will never be forgotten. Teach from them, but do not forget that evolution must continue...all things change, but the truth of Love will never change... Above all, Love must be our great Goddess." It is a lesson she herself learns traveling her own healing journey across foreign lands, at first believing there is only one way, The Way Jesus taught. But no way is without flaws she realizes. "All ways are a Tapestry created by many hands using many threads. When one finds the inevitable flaw, the thread is pulled free, tossed aside, a new thread put in its place." Along her Nine-Fold Path Magdalen adapts, weaving a tapestry from a multitude of truths, myths, religions. As Bride of Jesus, High Priestess, Keeper of the Way, Magdalen opens her heart and mind , inspired to synthesize and incorporate such concepts as: fair exchange and sharing of knowledge; creating sacred circles and rituals; replacing fear and guilt with forgiveness, joy and charity; the power of Community; ;communion with Nature; always affirming Divine Spirit within. By no longer accepting old practices as animal and human sacrifices, punishment by crucifixion, wifely obedience, this New Energy is loving, generous, empowering. Magdalen's powerful message to her contemporaries resonates still louder today. The time of the Goddess is Now. The resurrection of Mary Magdalen, the sacred Feminine - regardless of our physical gender, our spiritual path or our outer experiences - kindles the flame of Life and opens our heart in celebration. The way of the Master is open to all. We no longer need look to outside authorities, only within and trust the Wisdom and Divinity at our very core. We are powerful and Divine unto ourselves; however, it is by our conscious choice to share that we nourish ourselves and others and light the lamps of Love. "This is the Good News. Blessed Be!" 3/27/2004 Cynthia A. Lombardo , English Instructor, Astrologer Mellen, WI

Excellent Perspective on the Eternal Feminine, February 26, 2004
This review is from: Magdalen's Way: A Journey with Mary of Magdala, Bride of Christ and Keeper of the Way (Paperback)
If you liked the DaVinci Code, you will love this book. It looks at the Holy Grail and what and who the Holy Grail represents. This book gives an excellent perspective of what Jesus taught about Compassion, Love, Acceptance, and Hope for the future. It is told and experienced through the feminine energy of Mary of Magdala. This book gives a matriarchal balance to the patriarchal theme of most religions in today's world. We need to understand that violence, war and hatred no longer serve our world; we need to get back to the principles that Jesus and Magdalene taught two thousand years ago. This book teaches Faith, Hope and Charity, all aspects of pure Love. It is a treasure if you are seeking a new peaceful way to live. Kudos to Arlene Colver for this wonderful creation.
