Magellan 1700 AN0307SWXXX Windshield Mount

Instead of using as windshield mount, as 1700 7" obstructed view to much, used on a shelf type application in conjunction with using the dash mount adhesive plate. Suction application works great. Think out of the box for different mounting locations because of the size of the GPS unit and obstructed views for dash or windshield mounting.

We have used this mount several times in conjunction with the Bracketron Dash Pad and it has performed to specifications. We have had no issues with regard to defects or functionality.

The mount is easy to use and secures the GPS unit in place.

This mount is exactly like the one that came with the Magellan. It works as expected and securely locks the GPS in place. The suction cup holds on to any smooth surface securely and forever. Mine has never come loose. Nice accessory.

I was willing to purchase this item, unfortunately there are no maps available to Central american countries, after contacting manufacturer

As one other reviewer has noted, the unit does have some play and the GPS unit will move around without some additional support. I solved the majority of the movement by putting a felt pad under the arm and resting the unit on my center dash. Worked great. I have the unit right where i want it and it does not obstruct the view of the driver at all. My 1700 would not work in my car without this unit. A must have purchase.

The Magellan 1700 windshield mount is easy to use but due to the weight of the Magellan 7" GPS and my Corvette Z06's stiff suspension there is a fair amount of wiggling. I believe the mount would work better in a smoother riding car. The wiggling does not make the GPS difficult to use. It is just a bit distracting. I am tempted to try the bean bag mount that is available from Magellan to see if there will be less vibration with the GPS.
