The instructions say to check the contents, charge the battery, install the device in the vehicle, turn it on and go. It really is that easy. The 4050 is wonderfully intuitive, and having just returned from a 2700-mile road trip, I can say the device has earned its keep - and then some. Directions appear on the screen, but can also be heard by the driver without the need to look at the screen. Street names are given (audibly and on the screen), left or right exits noted, and the accuracy of the unit is amazing. The device was especially helpful in locating stores, restaurants, and gas stations in locations with which I was unfamiliar. The traffic kit appears to be a worthwhile feature; although there was no alternate route available the two times we encountered accidents along the route. At least we knew why we were stopped in traffic, which is some consolation. I have not utilized the bluetooth functionality, so I can't provide any feedback regarding that feature. The voice recognition software gets "confused" at times, but it generally works okay and is somewhat useful. Overall, the 4050 is easy-to-use, accurate, dependable and extremely helpful....you can't ask for much more than that in a device.
