I bought this to use in my 3 Series (2003) BMW. No position on the dash kept the unit in place. At every move, the unit flew off the dash. Basically I think this design would only work on a flat level dash with a lip OR if you had carpet covering as I have seen on many vehicles here in California.

This unit will not work for you if there is not a suitable spot on your dash. The Grand Cherokee (2003) has an indentation in the dash that this fits perfectly. If not for that, it would be slidung off the dash.

The picture is deceiving, it standing upside down. The big round pads go on top of the dash or on the seat next to you. It does not move. I have a Toyota minivan and it sits on the dash very well. However you do need an attachment that came with Magellan to attach it to this mount.I was impressed how it stayed in place when I made turns. The base is made of a heavy rubber material that sticks to the dash.You can mold it to fit. Unless you are a taxi driver in New York, this should work.

This is much more stable than the suction cup that connects to the windshild.

This product is perfect for mounting in a vehicle, whereas the window mount can fall in hot weather and damage the GPS unit. I recommend the weigted dash mount over others because of its simple method of attachment.

I am totally pleased with product and vendor. I would recommend or use both again.

The product is great and works well, but it had a notice warning about air bag deployment causing injury. I checked at the car dealership and they thought it should not be used on the car dash. So now I am afraid to use it !! So Sad Donelle

The mount was received in perfect condition,and in rcord time. It is so much better than the orignal mount (windshield mount) as it enables me to place it anywhere I want. I chose to put it on the floor of my Ford F-150 on the transmission hump, and it so covenient there. It's hefty weight keeps it where you put it with no shifting aroud. It's GREAT.

The Magellan 702223 Dash Mount is perfect for all applications. The flexible, weighted base provides a secure, stable platform for the ROADMATE. It is more secure than the "suction cup" windshield stalk mount because it is not affected by temperature fluctuations causing the suction cup to release. (Please note the photo shown is upside down.)

The Magellan Dash Mount is a very good product. Keeps the GPS fixed on the dashboard and allows quick removal without leaving behind any trace that there may be a GPS in the car (for would-be thieves). The GPS stays in place even on rough road surfaces. The only drawback is that it places the GPS high off of the dashboard so shorter drivers may have issues with the GPS blocking their view.
