MAGELLAN AN0202SWXXX AC Adapter

I ordered a MAGELLAN AN020SWXXX AC Adapter.
I received a PHIHONG Switching Power Supply.
This is not the same and it is not a MAGELLAN product.
This is the second product that AMAZON has sent a substitute item. If I wanted, the generic knockoff, I would have ordered it.
Buyer beware !!!! It is not only that they do not show the correct item they even switch the manufacture.

I tried to order this twice, but both times I recieved a less expensive adapter which sells for about $2.00 on amazon and is made in china. It will not work with the other plugs include in the package.

If you order the MAGELLAN AN020SWXXX AC Adapter you will not receive the pictured item. You will receive a PHIHONG Switching Power Supply with a U.S. power prong adapter. You will not receive the extra two prong adapters (for overseas use) as pictured. For the price, you can purchase an $11.00 adapter on Amazon that is the equivalent. Save your $13.00!

I ordered this Magellan adapter from Amazon but the order was forwarded to a loser named Charger City. The "Charger" part of their name refers to charging your credit card and not to the alleged charging unit itself. I did not receive a Magellan adapter. I received a piece of junk made in China that could not even be connected to my Magellan GPS. When I contacted the losers at Card Charger City they claimed that it was just an honest error by their new staff. In reading other reviews it is obvious that this "new" staff has been around for 7 or more months. Slow learners or deliberate scam artists? To further illustrate the depth of the scam this "new" staff was smart enough to be able to produce a shipping invoice that listed the contents of what I received as a Magellan adapter. They were even smart enough to include the correct Magellan part number on the invoice. However, they were apparently too dumb to actually include the Magellan adapter as described on their invoice but instead shipped the scam unit. Card Charger City offered to replace the scam unit but did not specify that the replacement would be a Magellan. I am willing to bet that they do not now, or ever have had in the past, a Magellan adapter in their inventory.

I opted to return the piece of scam for a refund and went through a return process more complicated than the moon landing. It is no surprise that the scammers did not issue a credit to my card.

I specifically ordered the Magellan Product number AN0202SWXXX AV power adapter for my Magellan Maestro 4250 GPS unit as pictured in the Amazon ad.

The packing slip that came with the item clearly states the correct item number, yet I received an HTC AC adapter with a sticker that was obviously removed from the Magellan item and placed onto the one that was sent to me which doesn't fit securely into the USB port of the GPS unit.

Not a way to retain customers and I suggest that Amazon acts accordingly to protect buyers from shady practices such as this.

I guess it will do the job but is it a Magellan product, which is
supposed to be? No where is the maker identified. Also, the maker,
Magellan, is offering their AC Adapter at a substantilly lower price
during this Xmas season. This was a disappointment. The difference
was about $7.00 on a $19.00 item

OK, I feel a bit stupid...I posted the review below a few minutes ago. Now I see how to make it work. You have to remove the GPS unit from its holder/stand thing and put the adapter in. That is inconvenient, since it just is the unit, flat on the table charging, but it works. Why don't they make a charger than charges when you have it connected to your computer, like an iPod? That would be great. I upgraded the rating to 3, because this does seem to be a cheap version, at least I hope it isn't a Magellan product. The box is certainly generic. The adapter itself is very light, must be a different one from the one someone said was heavy and bulky.

Like too many others found, this charger is not the one we expected. It does not fit the Magellan it is sold with. Now I have to go to the trouble of returning at Christmas time! Great....
I only ordered this particular one because it was shown as often bought with the Magellan. Don't see why, it can't be used. DO NOT BUY THIS FOR THE MAGELLAN AMAZON RECOMMENDS IT FOR. IT WILL NOT FIT!!!!

The item did not say Magellan on it and didn't fit my Magellan GPS that called for this stock number. My fault for not getting around to seeing about a return. Part of the reason for that was the lack of a form and/or instructions packed with the item.

I give this a 3 star only because it does not charge the GPS. The only answer I have to the problem is from the internet. It appears many others have experienced the same problem. Most do not believe it is the adapter but the unit's internal connection that allows the unit to be charged from the AC adapter. All the units charge from the car's DC connection. I do not intend to investigate any further as I can live with it as is and probably will replace the unit.

I purchased the GPS at Costco and wanted to learn about it in the house. I checked on line w/Magellan and Amazon and found the Amazon price much better. I received it quickly, and can now learn, update, recharge and have a cup of coffee. Normally I "like" stuff, but the price and speed of delivery makes me love it.
