This bracket series for the Magellan Meridian's are the best I've seen for any portable device. You can insert and lock the GPS into the bracket with one hand - with a firm *CLICK* to let you know that it's secure. Removing it is a one-hand easy operation as well. And to top it all off -- the Magellan's DC power supply cable mounts to the bracket itself! So when you install your GPS into the bracket, it is automatically powered by your car or boat's electrical system.. My old Magellan was never this easy to deal with, and it's bracket would spit out the unit when you hit any big bumps...

Get this swivel unit for the boat or any other location that you can mount it with screws or 2 sided tape.. Then get the suction cup version of the bracket for the car windshield mount... And then there's the "bicycle" mount to use on your bicycle or motorcycle (it works GREAT on my Honda Goldwing)... You guessed it - I have all three!!!

I love it when engineers do something right, and these brackets are great!!!

Got this Magellan Swivel Mount to use as a desktop cradle for my Meridian Color and it works perfectly.

The Power/Data cable connects onto the mount from the back and automatically connects to the GPSR when the receiver is snapped into place. You'll appreciate this after a few tries at attaching the connector by using it's teeny-tiny anchor screw.

Construction of the mount is sturdy and holds the receiver and connector securely. The mount is adjustable so that the GPSR screen is always in your line of sight either at eye level or from above (mounted on a horizontal surface) of from below (mounted on a wall). You will, however, have to provide your own Velcro or mounting screws since none comes with the unit.

Overall, terrific functionality for just a few extra dollars.

I use this in my Ford Escort station wagon. The other reviews are accurate and describe it in detail so I just wanted to add another endorsement of it. It is true that it doesn't have a suction cup mount but a suction cup probably wouldn't attach well to the top of instrument panel anyway. If you are buying a new GPS receiver for your car you should get one with an integral mount so you won't need to buy a separate mount.

I'm now ordering my third one in three years. I use this on my boat, the first one rusted the spring out that is inside the catch release (I now spray it with silicone before and after each use). The second one shattered the plastic boss at the pivot thumbwheel adjustment point after running through some choppy conditions. I'm not impressed with it for marine usage, I understand that is probably the toughest environment I could use it in, but the product is listed for use on boats. Stainless steel hardware and reinforced mounting areas would be a good idea for marine use, however there doesn't seem to be any alternative to mount this unit on my boat, so it's either buy a different gps or keep buying these mounts.

The bracket works well enough but it s a little cumbersome having to remove the electrical connection to make the unit mobile. No biggy but it could be done in an easier way.

The item was not as it was stated to be which was a disappointment for use in any vehicle.
It does not have a suction cup mount.
It must be fasten with screws.
I made use of in one car.

Do to not being sent what I ordered AS listed in desrciption.
Most likely not buy another product.
