This is my first navigation system and it was given to me as a gift. The sound is superb. The touch pad could be a little more sensitive, as it seems that you need to use your fingernail or more than a fingertip to get to the menus. All in all, a great product.

You can't beat Magellan RoadMate 1212 for the price. While it has a lot of the same features of the TomTom and the low-end Garmin's, it does not skimp on any of the extra features. Incredibly small, portable, reliable, with a long battery life.

Announce the street names in a very clear speech, when I miss an entrance it recalculates a route pretty fast. I am satisfied with it. Bought it back in December and it has been behaving good so far. I am able to find most of the Points of Interest that I have searched as well.
Only two cons: -it takes forever to find the satellites after I turn it on. I have to turn it on before I leave so it will locate itself with no delay. -battery takes forever to charge and it does not have a power cord charge. Battery fully charged only after a 4 hrs travel.
