This GPS, which compliments my GPS case purchase (obviously) was made a few weeks ago. When I first went to the beach, I knew I needed a GPS, because I got lost on the way to a friends house down at the beach. So after being chauffeured around town to a local Best Buy, I purchased the machine.

I didn't buy it from Amazon, simply because I couldn't pass up a 4.3' GPS for $87.16 after tax (originally on clearance for 79.99). Never the less, the time came for me to put the unit to the test when I left out that Monday morning for my apartment. After gassing up and putting in the address, the unit took maybe 3 minutes to catch a signal (the pumps were under an awning, go figure), before immediately springing into action. The pleasant 'ding-dong' lets you know when you need to merge, or even take a turn. The voice is fairly audible and speaks clearly (well, as clearly as a robotic female can speak, lol).

It comes with a few extra spaces of internal memory for saving addresses. Which, makes it even easier for you to navigate to a certain place (but I'm sure most units give you at least two to three spaces for that specific task). The associate at the Best Buy was right about one thing. Even though most GPS units are the same, the Magellan was fairly easy to use, and made me feel right at home.

If you're looking for a GPS that will work wonders, I'd seriously suggest this unit, because from the first time I've used it, I've been completely and totally satisfied.

My wife hates maps, so I bought her this text-to-speech enabled GPS at after Christmas sale at big box store (cheaper than the offer here). In my usual analysis paralysis manner, I studied all I could and found many complaints on GPS units that took a long time to acquire signal or had poor accuracy. The SE4 is WAAS enabled - this system enhances the accuracy and speed with which it operates. The unit is simple to operate for the basic stuff, though I haven't had the gumption to figure out the multiple-destination feature, which would be handy. Also frustrating to try to get back from turn-by-turn mode to map mode and somehow we seem to get the home set to the current location all the time. We've had no problems with the unit and I am glad I got it for my wife's sake. Though I prefer maps, I do occasionally find myself using the unit when I'm too lazy to find a map and study the route. Unless they've added the option, this unit does not include map updates, so it will gradually diminish in usefulness over time.

This is my second Magellan GPS. I had the small one that didn't announce names and wanted a bigger screen and announce names. This GPS starts up fast in the morning and finds the signal. When I want an alternate route it gives me the options fast. The points of interest on this one has so far had everything I was looking for. And the biggest thing I like is when you just turn and the system has to re-calculate the route that annoying voice that says "re-calculating" doesn't come on. It fast and very easy to use and for the price you can't beat it.

This is the easiest one I have ever used. Super user friendly. Voice commands are very clear & easy to understand. This is better than the one that is pre-installed in my husbands Envoy Denali! I just love it.

Verified Purchase
The glue of the mount part came out the minute I put this GPS on my car and just kept falling out. I can not attach this GPS to my car. I contacted seller but he keeps making excuses not to issue me the return request.

After reading many good reviews, I brought my Magellan SE4 in 2011. It was easy to setup and use, has great speech turn by turn directions with many other impressive features. I was very happy with it until I discovered I would have to pay another $79 to update the maps. In the past few years, there's been a lot of new construction in my area, so I can't totally rely on it's accuracy. It makes good sense to me to apply the money I would spend on updates on another GPS with free lifetime maps.

I don't mind this product for the average user. It gets me around from place to place in my city without much fanfare. My only gripe is that it won't charge at home. I need to plug it into my car for it to work. I have a friend who has the same model and the same problem. I've tried several different chargers, and no dice. It won't recharge itself from car, home or usb. So it is a hassle to have to carry the cord around all the time.
