It is okay but not impressive. The clear plastic that covers the screen of my Magellan is kinda cheap, but it does fit fine, meaning that the hole in the plastic for the joystick is in the right place and allows for fine movement. The case is not water proof by any stretch. I do like the options on the back of the case for belt loop or clipping it to something else...

From the previous 4 favorable reviews, the case is NOT what I expected after I received it. It is ill-fitting; buttons are hard to use thru the cheap plastic window and thru the side holes. The case has no opening for recharging a battery. In addition, it is not returnable to the seller I purchased it from, so buyer beware.

It is okay but not impressive. The case is not water proof by any stretch. I do like the options on the back of the case for belt loop or clipping it to something else (maybe a backpack?) or however you may want to carry it.

I recently ordered this case because I couldn't find a better one for the explorist. I was happy to find that the majority of the things people complained about were fixed, at least on the one I got. Instead of the dumb clip it had a carabineer; the fit was almost perfect (not too tight); and the color was black, not the weird brownish purple.

I don't know if there is a perfect case for the explorist, but in my opinion this one comes the closest. It seems like it's decent quality and the price is right.

This is a great case! Hang it on your belt or clip it to your pack, it's not a waterproof case, but it fits snug and holds tight.

Two times I tried to get Magellan support and was on hold for 45 minutes the first time and the second time I was on hold for more than 60 mintues until the support office closed at 8:00 pm EST at which time no one was going to answer. The support is terrible without question.

Now lets talk about the product. My two month old Magellan eXplorist 500 has died. First it lost it BaseMap which was a pain to replace. I had to pull the battery, replace the batter, reboot the unit and go into reformat mode. Then copy the BaseMap back into the unit and life was good for about a week. Now it cuts off on it's own requiring the battery to be pulled to reset and turn the unit back on. After doing this a few times for a few days, it has now finally died and now I'm stuck with a broken GPS and no support. YOU THINK THIS WILL BE THE LAST MAGELLAN I BUT?
